Trip Report: My Disney Vacation While Pregnant

Disney Babymoon

In August of 2019, while I was pregnant with my first baby, my husband and I decided to take a “Babymoon” to Walt Disney World. I was a bit nervous about the trip, as I was going to be 31 weeks pregnant during our travels. Despite my concerns the trip went beautifully, and we had an amazing time.

Day One: Check-In And Magic Kingdom

We flew into Orlando in the early morning of our first day. As soon as we arrived to our resort, DVC Polynesian Villas, we were able to check-in and drop our bags into the room. We quickly took the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom so that we could get as much park time as possible. We had planned a short trip of only three days so it was important for us to spend as much time at the parks as we could.

We had lunch at Friar’s Nook and then were able to ride some gentle rides that were pregnancy safe! I made sure to pack plenty of water. Staying hydrated during a Disney vacation is important for anyone, but it is especially important for a pregnant woman! We were able to ride The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, The People Mover, It’s A Small World, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, Carousel of Progress, and Peter Pan’s Flight.

For dinner that night we had reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern. This is my favorite restaurant at Walt Disney World, and the all-you-care-to-enjoy style of serving was especially enjoyable for me while pregnant. We headed back to our resort after dinner and collapsed in bed after a long day.

Day Two: Disney Springs

Being 31 weeks pregnant I knew I was going to have to take it easy on this trip. This is why we planned for our second day to be a restful day at Disney Springs. We walked around Disney Springs in the morning and grabbed some coffee at one of their Starbucks locations. We did some shopping and took a few photos. We had lunch at one of the Food Trucks that was parked there and enjoyed our quiet afternoon.

We returned back to the Polynesian Resort and took our time once more strolling the property. We did some more shopping inside and stopped at the stores within the main lobby building. We had reservations for dinner that evening at Olivia’s Cafe at Old Key West Resort. We enjoyed a great meal here and had fantastic strawberry milkshakes for dessert. Once we were done with dinner we returned once again to The Polynesian and took a dip in the pool. It felt so good to relax in the pool after all the walking I had done that weekend. The weightless feeling of being in the pool was much needed!

Day Three: EPCOT

Our last day was spent at EPCOT. By this point in the trip I was absolutely exhausted! We decided to rent a wheelchair for my husband to push me around the park. This was much needed, and I only wish I had gotten one sooner! We didn’t ride much at EPCOT aside from Spaceship Earth and Journey Into Your Imagination With Figment. I was able to grab a picture with Baymax and it became one of my most favorite pictures I’ve ever taken with a Disney character! We mainly took it easy and spent most of our time walking around World Showcase.

For dinner we had reservations for Teppan Edo. This was a fantastic dining experience and I enjoyed some of the best salmon I’ve ever had. I can still remember the taste of the green tea ice cream I had for dessert. We were able to watch the fireworks after dinner, and then made our way back to the Polynesian. We hit the pool one last time before crashing into bed for one last Disney sleep before the airport the next morning!

Trip Highlights

I was really happy to have gone on this little vacation before the birth of our first child! I had some cute pregnancy themed t-shirts made for the trip and I loved the pictures I got in them. I also grabbed a “First Visit” pin and put it on my belly for a few photos. This was really special and some of the Cast Members I ran into loved this idea. We ate so much good food on this trip, and I lost count of how many Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bars I consumed. I wish I had rented a wheelchair sooner. If you are pregnant and taking a Disney trip it is so important to rest and drink plenty of water. Don’t overdo it and you’ll have an amazing Babymoon!
