5 Reasons To Travel To Walt Disney World During Spring Break

Spring

If you’re considering a trip to Walt Disney World, you may wonder which time of year is the best to visit. Whether it’s your first or fiftieth trip to the parks, you might not want it to be too cold or too hot or too crowded or too expensive. And since everyone’s preferences differ, there’s no one answer to the best time of year to visit “The Most Magical Place on Earth.” However, there is a best time for you to visit based on your travel party’s schedule, preferred park and non-park day activities, and budget. So, as we gear up for spring break season at the Disney Parks, which typically runs mid-March to mid-April, and you are on the fence about going during what may be rumored as a “busy” time of year, here are five reasons to book a spring break trip to Walt Disney World.

1. EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival

If you have not had the chance to visit Disney World during the International Flower and Garden Festival, it is truly a must-see. Guests will find topiaries, flower beds, and beautiful landscaping made entirely of plants shaped as Disney characters all over EPCOT. The blooming buds remind you of the new life spring brings each year and adds extra magic to your vacation. In addition, during the Flower and Garden Festival, there are food kitchens around the World Showcase that serve delicious dishes inspired by spring’s fresh ingredients and even a butterfly garden! The 2023 Flower and Garden Festival runs March 1 through July 5, 2023.

2. The weather is beautiful.

March and April in Orlando, Florida are typically filled with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures, but without the high heat that is found during the summer months. This allows guests to fully utilize the resort pools and fit in fun days of splashing around and catching a wave at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. When traveling in the winter months, it can be too cold or breezy to swim causing the water parks to occasionally shut down temporarily. The evenings during Spring Break time are comfortable as well, allowing you to enjoy Movies Under the Stars or s’mores around a campfire instead of seeking refuge in the heat or AC of your resort room.

3. Find special Easter-themed offerings.

Guests of Walt Disney World can usually find Easter-themed treats, displays, and even character meet and greets in the weeks leading up to Easter, which fall during spring break season. In the past, delicacies like carrot cake cupcakes and bunny dome cakes appear at Disney Resorts and Parks. In addition, the talented pastry chefs have put on display oversized chocolate Easter eggs decorated to a theme at Disney Resort hotel lobbies. In the parks, there is usually an Egg-stravaganza scavenger hunt for Easter eggs held at EPCOT and a meet and greet with Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny at Magic Kingdom! The 2023 Easter offerings have yet to be announced, so stay tuned to the DVC Shop blog for updated information when it is released!

4. Missing work and school during this time is less of a burden.

Since many schools and universities allow for a week off during spring break, that also means people at your place of work take time off to be with their families. As a result, family members in school can truly enjoy the vacation without worrying about the missed work and projects and those who are missing work are likely to find less emails to respond to upon their return since other coworkers also out of the office.

5. There are special happenings during spring break 2023!

There are a few big things happening at Walt Disney World if you are traveling this year during spring break. First, the conclusion of the 50th anniversary celebration will occur March 31, 2023. We have not heard a lot of details quite yet, but if we know Disney, some sort of grand finale could be up their sleeve! If your spring break is in April of this year, your spring break trip to Walt Disney World could allow you to see the return of the fireworks shows “Happily Ever After” and “EPCOT Forever”. What’s more is that the long-awaited opening of TRON, the new roller coaster in Magic Kingdom, will occur on April 4, 2023. Spring break is sure to be an exciting time to be at Walt Disney World this year and every year!
