Guide To Introducing Your Children to EPCOT’s Thrill Rides

Walt Disney World is home to so many different types of incredible attractions. From slow moving dark rides like Peter Pan’s Flight to the immersive action packed ones like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. There’s something for the whole family, young and old! Some rides, however, might lead to some apprehensive potential riders. The thrill rides of Walt Disney World are exciting experiences for anybody building up the courage to ride them. Younger guests might be scared, but fear not, we are here to help! We have put together a guide to the thrill rides at EPCOT, in an attempt to introduce these exhilarating attractions to those who might be intrigued by them.

Mission: SPACE

EPCOT has a variety of thrill rides, each very different from the other. Mission: SPACE is a ride that simulates take off on a trip around earth or to mars! Guests 40 inches and above have the choice to take on the Green or Orange missions. Green is a chill trip orbiting Earth, while Orange is a more intense mission to Mars. A quick warning, if you or your kids get motion sick easy, I’d recommend sitting this one out. I’ve walked off this one nauseous a few times!

Test Track

To the right of Mission: SPACE is Test Track. If your children are into cars, this is a perfect intro to thrill rides for them. Test Track is all about concept vehicles and the test they go through before being approved! Before you board your ride vehicle, you will design a car, and during the ride get to see how they hold up to the tests you’ll ride through. This is all leading up to the climatic 65 mph drive around the outside portion of the ride. This is the fastest ride at EPCOT, fastest at Disney even! It’s lots of fun, but not scary at all. Before becoming Chevrolet’s personal crash test dummy, guests must be at least 40 inches

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

My personal favorite ride at Disney is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and I can safely say, I think it will be yours and your kids’ favorite too. When Earth is facing an intergalactic threat, the Nova Corps call upon the Guardians of the Galaxy to go back in time and save the planet. Guests board a “Star Jumper” where they are launched BACKWARDS through time to the moment of The Big Bang. Accompanied by one of six energetic songs from Peter Quill’s Walkman, this ride is sure to put an uncontrollable smile on your face. Guests 42 inches and above with a Boarding Group or an Individual Lightning Lane are invited to race through space! This roller coaster does have a controlled spin on it, nothing that will make you too dizzy but ensure that you are always facing the action! If you are motion sick, you might want to bring along a Dramamine!

The rides at the Walt Disney World resort are all thrilling in their own way. Excitement and joy is sprinkled throughout the entire resort. Whether you’re on a slow moving tour of a Haunted Mansion or your elevator dropping 13 floors at the Hollywood Tower Hotel, there really is something for everybody. I hope this guide brings out the potential thrill seekers in your family and that the smiles on everyone’s faces after the rides is a thrill in and of itself!

Not much has changed! During his free time you can find him either at Hollywood Studios or trying to convince his friends to go on another trip to Disneyland.
