Attraction Overview
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Re-Wind is a new attraction at Epcot in Disney World. It is located near the front of Epcot, near Mission: SPACE and Test Track. This new dark rollercoaster attraction is based on the popular Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and takes guests on a thrilling ride through space, and time.
What makes this ride unique is that the ride vehicle was developed by Disney imagineers, using cutting-edge technology, to be able to turn independently from the train that is attached to the track. This means that it is unlike any other attraction at Epcot, in that you are able to be shown stunning displays that are positioned in the center of thrilling spirals!
The history of the development of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Re-Wind is fascinating. It all began when Disney imagineers were looking for a way to create a new type of rollercoaster that would be unlike anything else in the world. They came up with the idea of using cutting-edge technology to create a ride vehicle that would allow guests to be positioned to view set-pieces as they journey through space. After years of development, the ride finally opened to the public in 2022, and is currently using a virtual queue, which works very similarly to the other virtual queues Disney can employed in the past for rides like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, or Rise of the Resistance.
Virtual Queue
We have written an article dedicated to demystifying how the virtual queue system works when using the My Disney Experience App. You can read that article here: How To Join The Virtual Queue For Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
Queue Experience
When you enter the building that contains the line, you discover that it’s built to allow park visitors a better look at Xandar, which is located in the Andromeda Galaxy and also the capital of the Nova Empire. As you enter the first chamber, which is also known as the Galaxarium, you will see an enormous overhead display that depicts different planets and astronomical bodies. It’s absolutely mesmerizing!
There is a large area inside the structure for the line, so hopefully you won’t find out what snow does in summer while waiting in line during those hot summer months in Florida!
As you venture further into the queue, you are greeted with tons of items to look at in cases, space flight suits, a model of 2 of the famous ships used in the movies, and even some engaging banter between the Guardians of the Galaxy is shown on a screen that is located right before embarking toward the pre-show area.
