Attraction Overview
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of the most groundbreaking attractions that Disney has to offer. It officially premiered on December 5, 2019 in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and has been wowing guests since.
Guests are taken prisoner by the First Order, and taken in for interrogation. There is no hope for escape, as the facility is crawling with stormtroopers.
While guests are held in the interrogation room, the Resistance comes to break them out! Guests will board transport cars lead by a reprogrammed droid. Eventually the escape plan is discovered by the First Order. Guests will have to face the AT-AT’s and Stormtroopers, while a raging Dog Fight goes on in space. Eventually, guests will come face to face with Kylo Ren himself.
With the force and his lightsaber, it seems like the end, until the Resistance breaks open the ship. Guests are able to get off the ship in an escape pod that crash lands back on Batuu.
This attraction combines multiple ride types to create the 18 minute long marvel that it is, and is considered the most technologically advanced ride in the parks. The ride systems include, trackless dark ride vehicles, motion simulators, turntables, and a drop shaft. In addition to the variety of ride systems, Rise of the Resistance also features a robotic BB-8 and a hologram message from Rey in the queue. Other aspects of the ride feature light tricks and projections to create the ultimate illusions.

This attraction is located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, on the side where guests enter from Grand Avenue.
Since Rise of the Resistance is a Virtual Queue only, wait times for this ride are a little more complex than other attractions. Guests attempt to get onto the virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance at the beginning of the day at 7 AM or 1 PM. If guests are able to get on the virtual queue, the actual wait time in the line is low, since only a few groups are called to line up at any given time. When you get into the virtual queue, the My Disney Experience app will inform guests of the approximate time they will be called to line up.
Virtual Queue
In order to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, guests will have to join the virtual queue. This queue was originally set up by Disney in order to prevent a huge influx of guests coming into Disney’s Hollywood Studios at one time. It achieves this by scheduling boarding groups that are spread throughout the day, but Disney has made some alterations to the process after reopening the parks.
Although the park currently has limited capacity, it is important to keep in mind that there is still a chance that you may not be able to get in a boarding group. You will need to move quickly through the steps of joining the virtual queue, think Millennium Falcon making the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs! Keep in mind that you can not get more than one virtual boarding pass per day due to the ride’s high demand. Also, if you have a DAS card or are looking at doing a rider switch you will still need to have a Boarding Group number to ride.
Queue Experience
Guests who pledge to become new Resistance recruits will be taken through the queue of Rise of the Resistance. This immersive queue begins as guests go through caves and get to witness X-wing fighters, an animatronic BB-8, and finally a hologram message from Rey describing the Resistance mission.
Guests will board a transport ship, but it eventually is under attack from the First Order. The fight can be seen through the specialized windows of the ship. Eventually the transport ship is taken hostage and guests are taken from the ship to be interrogated.
The queue for Rise of the Resistance is one of the most remarkable queues in Disney. It is hard to distinguish where the queue ends and the ride begins.
