Fall Fun Begins At Disneyland Resort September 2nd



Fall fun begins at Disneyland Resort on September 2nd, and we are so excited to share more details about what to expect this festive holiday season. Guests will be able to enjoy Halloween time at Disneyland Resort from September 2nd to October 31st. There will be a plethora of fun Halloween decorations, photo ops with Disney characters in their own Halloween costumes and some of the most iconic villains that Disney has, and specialty food items.

Let’s take a look at all of the spook-tacular festivities that will be offered this Halloween season!

Halloween In Disneyland Park

Disneyland will be transformed into the a vibrant pumpkin wonderland! Seasonal decor will be seen all through Main Street, U.S.A. including the iconic giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin.

Favorite Disney characters will be peppered throughout the park in new Halloween costumes that will wow guests. In addition, some of the best Disney villains will be there as well looking to get into trouble.

One of the highlights of the Halloween season is the Haunted Mansion‘s seasonal transformation. The holiday overlay, Haunted Mansion Holiday, is inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Jack Skellington is featured in this attraction, along with goblins and ghouls creating a mix of Christmas and Halloween spirit that is sure to bring enjoyment to all guests.

Every night during the September 2nd to October 31st season, guests will also be able to enjoy the return of the projection and light show “Halloween Screams”. On weekend nights “Halloween Screams” will include fireworks that will light up the sky. Guests will be able to see this nighttime spectacular from various locations in Disneyland park including Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle and in front of “it’s a small world”.

During September 2nd and November 2nd guests will be able to witness the vibrant displays of bright flowers and the musical trio of skeleton figurines in Frontierland in celebration of Dia de los Muertos.

Halloween In Disney California Adventure

Beckoning guests into Disney’s California Adventure theme park will be Oogie Boogie, the spooky boogey man from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Oogie Boogie sets the tone for the spook-tacular celebration in this park and is just the first part of the transformation.

Buena Vista Street will be home to Mickey Mouse and the rest o the Fab Five in their exciting Halloween costumes available for some spooky photo sessions. The entirety of Buena Vista Street will also be covered in decor that truly comes alive at night. The Halloween magic includes projections on the façade of Carthay Circle Restaurant. Don’t forget to take your picture in front of the 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman holding his jack-o’-lantern head!

Once guests enter Cars Land, they will see Radiator Springs change into Radiator Screams. The “car-acters” and their homes will receive Haul-O-Ween update. Fan favorites Lighting McQueen, Mater, Cruz and Red will be donning their “car-stumes”. It is not just the characters who will be transformed, but also the attractions. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will put on some Halloween music and become Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters will become Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.

Another ride overlay will also be taking place during this Halloween season in Avengers Campus. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will be transformed into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark with a new soundtrack and storyline.

Downtown Disney

It is not only the Disneyland Resort parks that will be receiving some festive updates. Downtown Disney will also have some Halloween spirit this season. Adorable pumpkin decor will be placed throughout Downtown Disney, as well as specialty food items that will be available at various locations. Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is a family fun pumpkin hunt and will be available from September 9th to October 31st.

Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party

For those looking to enjoy one of Disneyland’s exclusive events, Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party will be returning to Disney California Adventure. Guests will be able to choose from 23 select nights beginning September 6th to October 31st. This event is perfect for kids and kids at heart. Here are some of the highlights of this amazing After Hours event:

  • Guests are able to dress up in Halloween costumes and go trick-or-treating through the park.
  • Special character sightings, unique to the event.
  • The ability to enjoy the park attractions with a limited crowd.
  • Oogie Boogie Bash treat trails.
  • Mickey’s Trick or Treat show.
  • Frightfully Fun Parade.
  • Villains Grove at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail

Ticket Information

On June 28th, no earlier than 9:00 AM Pacific Time, a limited number of Oogie Boogie Bash tickets will go on pre-sale for those with a Magic Key.

Members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will be able to purchase tickets to an exclusive one-night special event on June 28th as well. This one-night event is scheduled for Saturday September 10th.

Tickets for the general public will be able to purchase their tickets on June 30th, no earlier than 9:00 AM PT. Guests are limited to 8 tickets per person, per event date. The tickets are only valid for the specific event date that is listed. Tickets are only required for guests ages 3 and up. Tickets must be purchased online or on the mobile app. This is a limited-capacity event, so be sure to buy tickets as soon as possible!

Plaza de la Familia will be returning to Paradise Gardens at Disney California Adventure park from September 2nd to November 2nd. This limited-time celebration is inspired by Día de los Muertos and features live entertainment, festive foods, and crafts. Other activities includfe:

  • “A Musical Celebration of Coco”
  • Street performance honoring Disney and Pixar’s “Coco”
  • Mariachi music at Paradise Gardens Bandstand
  • The World of Coco
  • Photo op at Arbol de la Vida (Tree of Life) photo location
  • Greeting with the hand-animated Miguel from “Coco”.
