Disney Water Parks: Are They Worth Visiting?

While most guests plan on visiting Disney World’s 4 theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, some guests don’t have the Disney waterparks on their to-do list for their vacations at all. Disney World is home to two incredible water parks that are themed to perfection and are up to the “Disney standard” that guests have come to expect Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon both operate at Disney World, however typically only one park is open at a time. Guests should plan ahead to check which water park will be operating during their upcoming visit.

In order to enjoy the Disney waterparks guests have a few options. First being adding the “Waterpark And Sports” option to their multiday park ticket package, allowing them to visit the waterparks for each day of their ticket as well as participate in tee times for Disney golf courses. Guests can also add the “Park Hopper Plus” option to their Park Hopper ticket, which gives all the benefits of a typical Park Hopper and adds visits to the water parks as well. Finally, guests can simply pay for a single day waterpark ticket. The cost of admission to the waterparks can vary, but is currently priced at $74 for a day pass. Blizzard Beach

Disney’s Blizzard Beach waterpark is full of water fun for the whole family, and is expertly-themed after a ski resort that is permanently frozen, even in the Florida heat! Blizzard Beach is currently operating from 10am-5pm, though daily hours may vary. Blizzard Beach has a little something for everyone in your family including Tike’s Peak, A Frozen-themed play area for the little ones 48 inches or shorter. Tikes Peak hosts several attractions and knowing how to swim is not required. Small children can splash in wading pools and slide on slides that are just their size. Parents can supervise their children without worry in this child-friendly water play area.

Blizzard Beach is also home to water attractions for those who enjoy a bit more of a thrill. Guests can plunge down Summit Plummet, one of the tallest waterslides in the world, as well as ride Toboggan Racers, an 8-lane toboggan water sled race to the finish. There are several options for dining at Blizzard Beach as well including Avalunch and Lottawatta Lounge, both serving quick-bites.

Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon is Disney’s waterpark that is full of thrills. While currently not in operation, this is only temporary and guests can expect it to open soon. Typhoon Lagoon is home to North America’s largest wave pool that famously tosses guests with 6-foot waves! Crush n’ Gusher is an incredible water roller coaster that propels guests throughout tunnels and dips and drops. Another attraction for the thrill-seekers is Miss Adventure Falls, a whitewater rafting experience that will fit the whole family.

There is plenty to do for the little ones in your family at Typhoon Lagoon as well. Typhoon Lagoon offers Ketchakiddee Creek, a water playground designed for those 48 inches or shorter. This play area features splash pools, tiny waterslides, and a splash zone.

Typhoon Lagoon also offers a variety of quick-bites and several snack stands, including their famous Sand Pail Ice Cream at Happy Landings Ice Cream, which is big enough for the whole family!

Are They Worth Visiting?

As you can see, the Disney waterparks are not short on attractions and activities. And in true Disney fashion, these waterparks accommodate families very well. So in our opinion: Are they worth visiting? Yes! Disney waterparks are especially great for mid-week breaks, and to make use of some time on your check-in day. If you or anyone in your family loves water activities then Disney waterparks definitely contain the best of the best and should not be skipped!
