Tips For Using The Disney Busses Like A Pro

Walt Disney World’s transportation system makes it easy to travel from your Disney resort to any Disney park, waterpark, and Disney Springs. While some DVC resorts have monorail or Skyliner access, others rely simply on the Disney busses. Some first-time guests are intimidated by Disney’s bus system. Don’t be! It’s quite simple to use and guests will acclimate to the system very quickly. Here are a few tips on using the Disney busses like a pro.

Know the Hours of Operation

Disney busses begin running 45 minutes prior to park opening and continue running until an hour after the park closes. Theme park opening and closing times vary so be sure to check your Disney World app before heading to the parks each day. New busses will arrive at the bus stops approximately every 15 minutes. The bus destination is clearly marked on the front of the bus and the door so be sure to check that you are boarding the correct bus. Busses have predetermined destinations and drivers are not allowed to go off-route, so be patient when waiting for your correct bus.

Check Bus Times

While busses generally arrive every 15 minutes, they can sometimes be a bit off schedule. Every Disney resort bus stop has a television or Cast Member nearby with arrival time estimates for the busses. If you find yourself waiting longer than 15 minutes look around for one of the estimated arrival times.

Fold Your Strollers Beforehand

All strollers must be folded prior to boarding to bus. In order to avoid a last-minute struggle, fold the stroller prior to the bus arriving at the station. Make sure that any bags are removed from your stroller before you attempt to fold them. Some guests even find it beneficial to practice the stroller folding ahead of time in order to achieve maximum efficiency!

Using a Wheelchair or ECV

Wheelchairs or ECVs are welcome on the Disney busses. Guests using wheelchairs or ECVs do not have to transfer to a bus seat. Every Disney bus is equipped with a ramp and bus drivers are trained to help load vehicles and lock them safely into place. Guests using wheelchairs or ECVs should wait in the separately marked queue area. Each Disney bus can hold up to 2 wheelchairs or ECVs at once.

Disney's large bus system is accessible to guests with mobility issues.
Disney busses also go to Disney Springs.

Read the Bus Stop Signs

When it’s time to leave the Disney parks don’t make the mistake of walking to the same bus stop you were dropped off at. Disney bus routes are constantly changing throughout the day so the stop that you were dropped off at probably isn’t the stop that you will be picked up from. Every Disney park has signage detailing which bus stop is for which resort so be sure to double check that you are headed to the correct stop before you wait in line.

Be Prepared to Stand

Disney buses have quite a bit of seating, but during peak hours and busy times guests should be prepared to stand for the duration of the bus ride. Disney busses are designed with quite a bit of standing room and guests can safely hold onto the handrails for the duration of the ride.
