This year Disney Cruise Line celebrates a magnificent milestone – 25 years at sea! After attempting to partner with other cruise lines in previous years, the Disney Magic set sail on its first operational voyage on July 30, 1998 and it’s been smooth sailing ever since. Over the years, Disney Cruise Line has added, and continues to add, new ships, ports of departure, ports of call, and its own private island! A Disney Cruise vacation is unlike any other and marking its silver anniversary will provide guests with an even more magical experience onboard.
“Silver Anniversary at Sea” sailings will occur this summer from May through August 2023. Cruisers will find a variety of special offerings to include characters dressed for the occasion, commemorative merchandise, a brand-new fireworks show, and more special surprises!
Character Meet And Greets
During a Disney Cruise, you’ll be delighted to find there is no shortage of opportunities to meet characters. When encountering your favorite Disney pals on the ship during this summer’s “Silver Anniversary at Sea”, you’ll notice that they have upgraded their clothing and accessories for this special celebration! Be sure to capture the moment when you meet Mickey and Friends donning their shimmery ocean blue outfits!
Shimmering Seas Collection
Followers of Disney Cruise Line on social media were already given a sneak peak of the Shimmering Seas Collection they will find onboard this summer. Featuring shimmery silver threads and designs, choose from ears, backpacks, jewelry, spirit jerseys, and plush characters among many other souvenirs. They are fashionable, fun, and one you return home, are sure to remind you of the many memories made on this limited-time cruise.
New Fireworks Show
Did you know that Disney Cruise Line is the only cruise line permitted to launch fireworks at sea? Thanks to special biodegradable materials, Disney Cruise Line is able to provide this unique opportunity to their guests and this summer provide them with a new show on most Bahamian, Caribbean, and Mediterranean sailings. This evening spectacular that will only be availble this summer will feature treasured iconic Disney songs and conclude with an original song created just for the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” celebration. It is sure to be a hit!
Castaway Club Special Perk
Castaway Club is Disney Cruise Line’s exclusive group for returning guests. Members receive perks and benefits when booking and on board and during “Silver Anniversary at Sea” sailings, they will receive a specially framed print in their state room while supplies last. This limited-edition artwork was created by Disney artist Joe Kaminski, whose Disney renditions are featured in many Disney resort hotels and Disney Cruise Line ships. Disney Cruise Line also recently announced Pearl status, a new membership tier of the Castaway Club, as part of the countdown to the “Silver Anniversary at Sea”.
