Tree of Life Awakenings Holiday Edition Returns To Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Tree of Life Awakenings Holiday

The holiday season at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is spectacular. My favorite part is the Tree of Life Awakenings: Holiday Edition. The holiday spectacular returned to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on November 11, 2023. As the sun sets, the Tree of Life will awaken with a sequence of wintry stories that play out before a majestic holiday score. In between awakenings, the Tree of Life will shimmer and sparkle throughout the night, alive with the spirit of the holiday season.

The Tree of Life projection shows initially began in 2016. They go on a summer hiatus before returning for the November holiday spectacular. The show starts after dark. Different projections and stories are displayed on the Tree of Life every ten minutes until the park’s closure. The show is a delightful experience for the whole family to enjoy.

The  Tree of Life

The Tree of Life is the primary fixture of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. It has emerged as a prominent park feature since it opened in April 1998. From Tree of Life tee shirts to figurines and Disney pins, the feature is beloved by people of all ages.  The Tree of Life was created to grasp the park’s spirit with its variety of animals and the grandeur of nature. The animals are not imagined to look as if they were etched into the tree’s character but are believed to appear as if they rise out of it organically.

Guests can venture inside the Tree of Life for a theatrical show called It’s Tough To Be A Bug. This show opened in April of 1998 and has been a hit with guests ever since. It is based on the classic Pixar film ” A Bugs Life.” During this show, guests become “honorary bugs” and learn why it is challenging to be a bug. They also learn the positive benefits of bugs. Most people are scared of bugs like ants, spiders, and grasshoppers. However, the show teaches guests how friendly, harmless, and good for the environment bugs can be.  The show features both 3D and 4D elements. Guests put on “bug eyes” to see 3D objects on the screen. They also experience 4D things like a life-sized version of the characters Hopper or Flick.

Pro Tip

If you want to book a quick trip to Disney World just to enjoy this attraction, I recommend that you stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge at Kidani Village or Jambo House. Not only does this resort beautify African-themed, but it is only about a ten-minute bus ride from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.  At the park opening, you and your family can make your way straight to the Tree of Life Theater to enjoy the show.

It is a classic experience that you and your family are sure to enjoy. Have a wild time!
