Best DVC Resorts For Families Who Want To Avoid Bus Transportation

Disney Riviera

Disney buses can get you just about anywhere around Walt Disney World, but they aren’t always the most convenient option for families. Waiting at a bus stop with tired kids, folding up certain strollers, or squeezing onto a crowded bus after a long park day can get old quickly. While it is difficult to completely avoid buses during a Disney World vacation, choosing the right Disney Vacation Club resort can greatly reduce how often you need them. If walking paths, boats, the Disney Skyliner, or the monorail sound more appealing, these DVC resorts are worth considering.

Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Boulder Ridge Villas is a great option for families who plan on spending plenty of their vacation at Magic Kingdom. Guests can use boat transportation between Wilderness Lodge and Magic Kingdom, giving you an alternative to boarding a bus for one of the most popular park destinations. The boat ride can also be a relaxing way to begin or end the day, particularly compared to navigating a crowded bus with kids and park gear. You’ll still rely on buses for other theme parks, but multiple Magic Kingdom days can mean multiple bus rides avoided.

Disney’s Riviera Resort

Families who expect to spend a lot of time at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios should consider Disney’s Riviera Resort. The resort has its own Disney Skyliner station, providing gondola transportation to both parks. Guests traveling to Hollywood Studios transfer at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, while EPCOT can be reached directly from Riviera. The Skyliner is also especially useful for families with strollers, since many strollers can roll directly into a gondola without being folded. With two theme parks accessible through the system, you may go several park days without needing a bus.

Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

The Polynesian offers several transportation choices that can help families dramatically reduce their reliance on buses. Magic Kingdom is accessible by monorail or boat, giving you the flexibility to choose between the two depending on crowds and wait times. Guests can also walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center to board the EPCOT monorail. If Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are your family’s two most-visited parks, staying at the Polynesian can make getting around Disney World much easier.

Disney’s Beach Club Villas

Beach Club Villas is one of the most convenient choices for families who want easy access to multiple parks. EPCOT’s International Gateway is within walking distance, so there is no transportation wait at all when visiting EPCOT. Families can also reach Hollywood Studios by boat or take a longer walk to the park. The Disney Skyliner station outside International Gateway gives you another way to travel around the EPCOT Resort Area. This location is particularly useful for families who like to park hop between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Bay Lake Tower takes convenience a step further by allowing families to walk directly to Magic Kingdom. At the end of the night, you can skip transportation lines entirely and head back to your villa on foot. Guests also have access to the monorail from Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which travels around the Magic Kingdom Resort loop and connects to the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there, you can transfer to the EPCOT monorail. Families planning several days at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT can complete a large portion of their vacation without depending on Disney buses.
