A Closer Look At Animal Kingdom’s Pandora – The World of Avatar

Pandora: World of Avatar

As part of our in-depth overview of all the lands in Animal Kingdom, we are bringing you all the highlights of Pandora – The Land of Avatar. Sivako!

Overview

Pandora – The Land of Avatar places guests right in the world of the Avatar films. It truly is “a world like no other.” Upon entering the land from either the Discovery Island pathway or from Africa, guests will immediately notice the change in the air when they cross into Pandora. The sounds of unknown “creatures” in the trees, the movements of alien plant life, and the awe-inspiring views of floating mountains climbing into the sky will make you feel as if you’ve stepped onto another planet. This is doubly true when you visit Pandora at night, when the scenery comes alive with bioluminescence.

Pandora is home to popular attractions and delicious dining, as well as some great photo ops.

Attractions

  • Avatar Flight of Passage is a true feat of Imagineering genius. This incredibly immersive ride transports guests to the world of Pandora using 3D technology, thrilling scenery, scents and sounds to capture your senses. You will feel as if you are taking an otherworldly flight astride a mountain banshee! Due to its 3D technology and movement, this ride can cause motion sickness in some people.
  • Na’vi River Journey offers guests a more gentle look at the nighttime forests of Pandora. This slow-moving boat ride gives guests an up-close look at the bioluminescent plants and animals of Pandora. At the end of the ride, you will also see (and hear!) an incredibly lifelike Na’vi Shaman singing to travelers as they make their way out of the Pandoran rainforest.

Entertainment

  • Near the center of Pandora, guests can find an Interactive Drum Circle display built into the rocks and tree “roots” of the Valley of Mo’ara. Guests can try their hand at playing the drums in the spirit of Na’vi musical tradition. This is a great area for kids to enjoy while their grown ups sit and rest a moment!
  • Colors of Mo’ara is a face painting experience that offers guests the chance to be “painted in designs inspired by the Na’vi and more.” This experience is currently unavailable, but hopefully will return in the near future.
  • The Wilderness Explorers program gives kids a fun and educational way to experience Animal Kingdom by providing both a scavenger hunt-experience and a fun keepsake. Learn more about this fantastic experience here! Pandora has a Wilderness Explorers station in the “Valley of Mo’ara” across from Satu’li Canteen, as well as at the “Flaska Reclinata” on the pathway from Discovery Island.

Dining

While Pandora does not have any table service restaurants, it does have two very popular quick service locations.

Quick Service

  • Satu’li Canteen offers an immersive theme and reliably delicious food. Once a “former RDA mess hall” that has since been adorned with the artwork of the Na’vi, this quick service restaurant offers plenty of seating and a creative menu. Guests can enjoy colorful and tasty bowls with a choice of protein; or perhaps the popular “Cheeseburger Steamed Pods – Bao Buns” served with crunchy vegetable slaw and chips. There are also kid-friendly entree options as well as desserts on the menu.
  • Pongu Pongu is the perfect quick stop to grab a refreshing beverage or snack. The popular “Pongu Lumpia” (pineapple-cream cheese spring roll) is served here, as well as the “Night Blossom” drink (apple and desert pear limeade topped with Boba balls).

Shopping

  • Windtraders is the main shop in Pandora, featuring plenty of Pandora- and nature-inspired merchandise. Windtraders sells clothing, accessories, artwork, pins, jewelry, toys, plush, MagicBands, Loungefly bags, real plants in glass beakers, home goods, a few snacks/candy and of course lots of Avatar merchandise.
