Disney enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for updates regarding the reopening of the beloved attraction, Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The wait is finally over! We’ve got some fresh news on the reopening timeframe of this thrilling ride.
Historical Annual Refurbishment Schedule
As part of the park’s commitment to ensuring the best experience for its guests, Kali River Rapids undergoes annual refurbishment. In 2022, the ride closed on November 1, 2021, and reopened on January 4, 2022. The following year, it closed on January 9 and reopened on February 26, three weeks ahead of its scheduled March 17 re-opening date.
The 2024 Refurbishment Schedule
The much-awaited reopening timeframe for Kali River Rapids has now been announced. According to the Walt Disney World website, the ride will be temporarily unavailable due to regularly scheduled maintenance from January 8, 2024, to mid-March. Although the Walt Disney World website’s calendar currently goes through March 3, 2024, the ride has no hours listed through that date, indicating that the exact reopening date might be later in March.
Kali River Rapids: A Brief History
Kali River Rapids, nestled in the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is a high-thrills whitewater river ride that promises an exhilarating experience for all adventurers. Opened on March 18, 1999, the ride takes guests on a fast-moving trek on the rapids amidst lush vegetation and a heart-stopping plummet down a 20-foot slope. Originally known as Tiger Rapids Run during its development, the ride is themed to the Chakranadi River in Karnataka, India and has a height requirement of 38 in (97 cm).
