Guests 21 and over, prepare for some exciting news. Magic Kingdom has updated its alcohol policy to include more drink options! This is a huge change for the theme park’s dining experience. Let’s take a look at what it means exactly, and when guests can expect these changes to take effect.
Drinking in Disney
Currently, guests are able to purchase beer, wine, and a variety of cocktails throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In all three of these theme parks guests can purchase alcoholic drinks at table service and quick service locations. Also in these theme parks guests are able to walk around with their alcoholic beverages, they just can’t leave the park with them.
Drinking in Magic Kingdom
In 2012 Magic Kingdom began allowing the sale of alcohol in the park. Originally, Walt Disney did not want alcohol sold in the parks, but many embraced this change. Magic Kingdom does have more strict regulations in place for the sale of alcohol in the park. For example, some of the rules regarding alcohol in Magic Kingdom are:
- Only table service restaurants can serve alcohol.
- The only alcohol offered is beer and wine, no liquor.
- Guests can not walk around with drinks, they must be consumed at the table service restaurant.
No quick service locations have ever been allowed to serve alcohol of any kind, and that does not appear to be changing soon.
Upcoming Changes
Disney will be adding cocktails to their table service restaurants on September 13th! These mixed drinks will be added to the current list of beer and wine available at some of the restaurants that are already permitted to serve alcoholic beverages. The dining locations that will be adding these cocktails are:
- Skipper Canteen
- Liberty Tree Tavern
- The Diamond Horseshoe
