Gorillas Rifle Through Munitions Inside The Jungle Cruise Attraction

Jungle Cruise is one of the original attractions in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, opening on October 1, 1971. Like the park itself, it will be celebrating 50 years of operating this year. To celebrate this landmark, this attraction will be receiving an update later on in 2021 with “gnu” scenes and “gnu” jokes. The refurbishment project for this attraction has been kept under wraps, with no definitive plans being released as of yet. The only change that has been confirmed is that Imagineers will be changing how the Natives are depicted along the ride.

This attraction is an easy going and relaxed ride that takes guests on boats styled from the 1930’s. Each boat has its own unique name, which guests will learn at the beginning of their Jungle tour. A Cast Member is aboard the boat to greet guests and take them on their tour of simulated Asia, Africa, and South America rivers.

Throughout the tour guests will see audio-animatronic animals such as hippos, snakes, elephants, toucans, and rhinos as they pass beautiful waterfalls. During the tour guests witness a plane crash, an ancient destroyed temple, along with Chief Nami; also known as Trader Sam.

Although there are a lot of “close calls” such as an ambush and being sprayed by elephants, the boat ride is a smooth ride and perfect for guests of all ages.

This is a particularly fun attraction during the holidays, as it receives its own festive makeover, changing it to the Jingle Cruise. The Jingle Cruise is the same ride but with updated Christmas jokes and puns, along with decorations.

Location & Wait Times

Guests can find the Jungle Cruise attraction inside of Magic Kingdom, nestled in Adventureland. It is located next to the water, across from the Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin attractions.

This is one of the most popular rides inside of Magic Kingdom, therefore the wait times can get quite high later on in the day. This is definitely one attraction that is best right in the morning to avoid the crowds.

Queue Experience

The queue for the Jungle Cruise takes guests through an old British Colonial outpost. Throughout the outpost queue guests will see artifacts, cages with fake animals, and even the office of Albert Awol who is the fictional Jungle Cruise boat captain. Parts of this winding queue may occasionally be closed off depending on the crowds, so guests may not always see every artifact that is on display depending on when they get to this attraction.
