When venturing to Disney World during the summer you can expect temperatures to be anywhere from 75 to over 100. Having a solid plan to stay cool and comfortable is essential to your visit. Here’s a guide packed with valuable tips and strategies to help you beat the heat and make the most of your summer adventure at the happiest place on earth.

Stay Hydrated

Combatting the intense heat starts with staying hydrated. Make sure you and your family carry reusable water bottles and refill them frequently throughout the day to avoid dehydration. Find water refill locations on the MyDisneyExperience app by searching “water refill stations” and checking the park or resort you are at. Opting for water over sugary or alcoholic beverages is key to keeping your body well-hydrated. Consider bringing hydration packets to replenish electrolytes and take advantage of mobile ordering to add bottles of water and sports drinks like Powerade to your orders.

Take Frequent Breaks

Remember, visiting the parks is a marathon, not a sprint. Schedule short but frequent periods of downtime during the day to allow everyone to rest and recharge. Indoor attractions like Mickey’s Philharmagic in Magic Kingdom and Frozen Ever After in EPCOT offer a welcome reprieve from the heat and are perfect for taking a break.

Visit the Parks Strategically

Plan to arrive early in the morning to beat the crowds and enjoy cooler temperatures. Take a longer break during the hottest part of the day to relax and recharge, either at your resort pool or indoors enjoying resort activities. Returning to the parks in the evening allows you to experience cooler weather and possibly avoid the afternoon thunderstorms typical of Florida summers.

Indulge with Cool Treats

Satisfy your sweet tooth with cold treats like Dole Whip or ice cream, which can be found throughout the parks and resorts. These refreshing desserts offer a quick breather from the heat and are a delicious way to stay cool.

Wear Light, Breathable Clothing

Opt for lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing in light colors to stay comfortable in the high humidity. Breathable fabrics such as linen, will keep you cool as you explore the parks under the blazing sun.

Bring Cooling Accessories

Pack cooling towels, neck fans, and umbrellas to shield yourself from the sun’s rays. These accessories are essential for staying cool and comfortable while navigating the parks. You may also be able to purchase cooling towels and misting fans at various locations throughout the parks.

Enjoy Water areas

Take advantage of water areas to cool off when the temperature rises. Check out Journey of water Inspired by Moana in EPCOT, as well as the misting stations throughout the parks and Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station in the Storybook Circus area of Magic Kingdom.

Take Advantage of Disney’s Waterparks

For even more relief from the summer heat, consider spending a day at one of Disney’s waterparks, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon (check before you leave to see which will be open during your trip). These aquatic playgrounds offer thrilling water rides, lazy rivers, and wave pools, providing the perfect opportunity to cool off and have fun with the whole family. With themed attractions, delicious dining options, and plenty of shade, Disney’s waterparks are a refreshing addition to your summer Disney adventure.
