While the Magic of Disney is most notably created by the immersive theming of its parks and resorts, memorable character interactions, and attractions that bring the imaginary to reality, what some patrons look forward to most when they visit Disney is the snacks! And it’s not just indulging while on vacation, it’s more about creating smiles and traditions with food that tastes really good! Disney snacks are so popular that there is a variety of merchandise available to purchase paying homage to these famous food items.
No matter where you are on property, Mickey-shaped foods are plentiful and popular. Start your day with Mickey and Minnie-shaped waffles. Find an oversized Mickey-shaped cinnamon roll or donut to enjoy with your mid-morning coffee. Don’t forget the Mickey-shaped pretzels, too-cute-to-eat candied apples, rice crisp treats, cupcakes, ice cream novelties, and the stunning dome cakes that can be added on to most table service meals and also found at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs.
While I’ve had the delectable pleasure to taste the above-mentioned snacks, one other Mickey-shaped snack reigns supreme – the Mickey beignet! What makes the Mickey beignets extra special is that they are currently only available to purchase at one location in Walt Disney World. How can you get your hands on these freshly-made doughy pastries?
At Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort, guests must visit Scat Cat’s Club -Café, located adjacent to the main reception area, to find the best-tasting Mickey-shaped snack! It makes sense that Mickey beignets are found at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter, since this light, fluffy, fried dough originates in New Orleans, Louisiana after being brought to the United States by settlers from France. Order 3 or 6 beignets with your choice of salted caramel, strawberry, or chocolate ganache dipping sauce. If you’re feeling jazzy, customers may order a pair of Baton Rouge beignets prepared with Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur, Kahlúa Liqueur, or RumChata Liqueur. Finally, for a full-on sensational and sharable dessert, order the beignet sundae which comes with your choice of ice cream, sauce, and whipped cream. Seasonal flavors of beignets, like pumpkin spice or hot cocoa flavored, may also be found on the menu.
If you are not already a guest of Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter or Port Orleans Riverside Resort, you may take a bus from any park or Disney Springs to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter or for direct transport, request a Minnie Van from your own resort or location within Walt Disney World. My personal favorite way to arrive to Port Orleans French Quarter Resort is to take the friendship boat from Disney Springs.
Exit Disney Springs after passing Disney’s Days of Christmas shop and make your way to the dock that you will find on your left before crossing the bridge to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. Choose the ramp on the right to wait for your ferry to the Port Orleans Resorts. The boats run at least every 20 minutes and the relaxing ride full of nature views is reminiscent of a trip down the bayou. The short voyage is a unique experience that is well-rewarded when you reach your destination by being able to explore the beautiful Port Orleans French Quarter Resort and purchasing the best Mickey-shaped snack on Disney property!
With the transformation of Splash Mountain to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, many Disney Park go-ers are wondering if a location selling Tiana’s famous (Mickey) beignets will also be added. Now, wouldn’t that be grand? Have you visited Scat Cat’s Club Café for Mickey beignets by using the ferry from Disney Springs? Will you add it to your trip itinerary for your next Walt Disney World vacation? Let us know in the comments below.
