If you have never had the opportunity to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance due to the virtual queue, you will soon be in luck. Disney has just announced that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance virtual queue will be paused and changed to a standby line on September 23rd!
This popular attraction has had a virtual queue since its opening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2019. Virtual queues have since become standard practice for Disney’s latest attractions. Disney states that this pause in the virtual queue system in honor of the Disney World 50th anniversary celebrations. How long this ride will stay a standby queue is unclear at this time. The Disney Parks blog states that they may use the virtual queue in the future, so Disney may choose to change it back to a virtual queue system if the lines become too long, or once the 50th anniversary celebrations are complete. It may also be a permanent change, but only time will tell.
Disney also stated that this change was made in an attempt to increase guest satisfaction. Boarding passes for Rise of the Resistance have always been a challenge, and many guests would fail to get on the coveted ride on their only day in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This new change is sure to be helpful for park guests that have never been able to enjoy the attraction in the past.
