The runDisney race season consists of 4 separate race weekends beginning in November and ending in March or April. The final series of the year was added in 2022 and was named the Springtime Surprise series. Traditionally Springtime Surprise has consisted of a 5K, 10K, 10-miler, and sunrise yoga, along with a Challenge to complete all 3 distance races.
This year, Springtime Surprise occurs April 18-21, 2024 and has added a post-race celebration event! Join fellow runners at Springtime Surprise Splash held at Typhoon Lagoon on Sunday, April 21, 2024. This limited-capacity event will include access to Typhoon Lagoon’s most popular attractions as well as select complimentary treats, Disney character meet and greets, a rocking DJ, and a commemorative item. Tickets are now available for purchase online for runners and their guests! All persons age 3 and up must have a valid ticket to enter the party. Springtime Surprise Splash runs from 7:00PM-10:00PM, but ticketholders may begin to enter the park at 5:00PM for extra time to swim and slide.
Open Attractions
During the Springtime Surprise Splash, attendees can expect to enjoy the following water attractions:
- Bay Slides
- Castaway Creek
- Crush ‘n’ Gusher
- Gangplank Falls
- Humunga Kowabunga
- Keelhaul Falls
- Ketchakiddee Creek
- Mayday Falls
- Miss Adventure Falls
- Storm Slides
- Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool
Ketchakiddee Creek is the water play area reserverd for guests under 48” and Castaway Creek is the Lazy River that encircles the park, allowing you to enter and exit at various locations. Since these family-friendly attractions are expected to be open, this event would be appropriate for all ages of guests in your travel party!
Complimentary Treats
Included in each guest’s ticket are select beverages, ice cream, and fountain beverages! Be on the lookout for locations throughout the park where you can access these complimentary treats. In addition, other snacks will be made available for purchase, but if you are looking for a full meal, be sure to fuel up before you arrive or grab some fish tacos or filling burger and fries before some dining locations close. While the park hours for Typhoon Lagoon have not yet been confirmed for April 21, 2024, it is likely that normal operational hours will last until 6:00PM, allowing an hour of transition time before Springtime Surprise Splash officially begins.
Disney Character Sightings
While characters rarely meet at Typhoon Lagoon, attendees can expect to see characters aligned to the Springtime Surprise race themes and others! With Neverland 5K, Adventure is Out There 10K, Hakuna Matata 10-miler, and Stitch’s ‘Ohana Challenge, who would you like to meet at this event?
Of the 4 runDisney race weekends, Springtime Surprise is only the 2nd series to end with a post-race party. While Wine and Dine Half Marathon weekend ends with a nighttime party at EPCOT, runDisney Marathon weekend and Princess Half Marathon weekend do not include an afterhours event. You will, however, find accomplished runners proudly and rightfully donning their finisher medals at the Disney Parks and as they celebrate their efforts at the Disney Resorts after each and every runDisney race.
