Mickey and Friends To Begin Greeting Guests At The Gate In EPCOT

Mickey Mouse Waving to Park Guests at Disney World

Character Meet and Greets at Disney are dear to all guests, and now they are making their way a little closer. Mickey and Friends will begin greeting guests at the entrance in Epcot beginning May 5.

Guests will still not be able to go up and give the characters hugs and get autographs, but Mickey and all his pals will be much closer, making for better pictures and possibly even a little conversation. Since the characters will be relocating to the entrance, this new change also means the Mickey and Friends cavalcade will be ending on May 4.

There will still be a variety of other cavalcades taking place throughout the day, and luckily we are not saying goodbye to the characters, simply getting a chance at a closer hello.

Disney seems to be creating more opportunities for static character experiences, which many find preferable to the moving cavalcades. Hopefully this is a step forward to getting back to the traditional character meet and greets that are a highlight of the Disney parks.

Have you seen Mickey and Friends at the entrance recently? Are you looking forward to seeing them more often starting May 5? What are your thoughts on getting back to traditional character meet and greets? Let us know in the comments below.
