The long awaited Guardians of the Galaxy attraction in Epcot appears to have its opening date! Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open on Memorial Day Weekend. This year Memorial Day is May 30th, with the celebratory weekend beginning on May 27th. An official date has still not been released.
This new projected opening date came to light due to an accidental Twitter post by Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Geoff Morrell. This Tweet has since been deleted, but Disney regularly opens attractions during Memorial Day Weekend, as it is the unofficial start of Summer time. Disney has not officially confirmed this news at this time, but the timeline would add up.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be an innovative Imagineering wonder. It will be the first Marvel attraction in Walt Disney World and the first 360 degree roller coaster. Guests will learn about the planet Xandar in the Galaxarium. All goes well on this educational excursion until The Guardians of the Galaxy interrupt and take guests on their own storytelling adventure. If Cosmic Rewind is anything like the concept art makes it out to be, it is sure to be remarkable.
