Another exciting announcement from Destination D23, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open in the summer of 2022 at Epcot!
This attraction has been in the works for quite some time and was originally set to open in 2021 as part of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration. However, due to set backs from the COVID-19 pandemic, this ride will now be included as a centerpiece for Epcot’s 40th anniversary as well as Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is making headlines for many reasons. This will be the first attraction in the upcoming Wonders of Xandar Pavilion in World Discovery. It will also be the first Walt Disney World attraction that is based off of the Marvel Universe, something that many guests cannot wait for. The ride vehicles are also the first in Disney World’s To rotate 360 degrees and do a reverse launch. This roller coaster will also be one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world! Disney is making huge moves with this newest attraction, and it seems like it will be worth the wait.
This ride will also have numerous on screen stars reprising their roles including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Glenn Close. We will see this characters in their original roles as they come down to Earth to teach us about the planet Xandar, the Xandarians, and their technology. Guests will be able to take a closer look at all of this technology in the gallery section before boarding their specialty vehicles for a journey through the cosmos.
