Earth Day Celebrations Are Coming To Animal Kingdom

Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom

Earth Day celebrations are coming to Animal Kingdom for an entire week in April. Earth Day is on April 22 and Disney will be pulling out all the stops to celebrate. On April 18 festivities will begin and continue on until April 24. There will be something for everyone to enjoy from Earth Day themed desserts, special character experiences, and more.

Guests will enjoy a variety of Earth Day treats such as specialty cupcakes, only available during this limited time. Try each one at each of these locations.

  • Strawberry Flavored Flamingo Cupcake at Flame Tree Barbecue
  • Sea Turtle Graham Cracker Cupcake at Restaurantosaurus

Not only will there be plenty of things to taste while guests celebrate Earth Day but there will be lots to see as well. Animal Kingdom is always a magnificent display of what Earth has to offer. Guests who go on the safaris at this time will be able to see baby giraffes and a baby rhino, in addition to the other variety of animals that call Animal Kingdom their home.

New characters will be making special appearances during these festivities. Disney has not released which characters will be joining the park regulars yet. Seems that guests will have to be in the park to find out.

A new sand sculpture will be crafted during this week as well to commemorate the occasion. This new 40 ton sand sculpture will be replacing the Raya and the Last Dragon sculpture. Guests can find the new sand sculpture, celebrating “Secrets of the Whales” from Disney+, on the Discovery Island Stage. It will remain in place until April 30.

In addition to the regular experiences that guests can expect at Animal Kingdom such as the rides and immersive worlds, there will be plenty of extras that Disney is offering during this April week. Guests will be able to go on self-guided adventures. Those who participate and complete all the nature challenges will earn an Earth Day Badge worthy of any great Wilderness Explorer.

These experiences will offer guests opportunities to learn or enhance a skill. The Animation Experience at Conservation Station will be bringing artists on to teach guests how to draw some favorite animal characters. These characters will include Dumbo, Simba, Squirt, Terk, Shere Khan, and Scar. All of these animals were chosen because of the conservation work done on behalf of the real life animals they are modeled after.

Those looking for merchandise will have more than they can dream of. These are a few of the items that will be available during this week.

  • Limited-edition Te Fiti Moana trading pin.
  • Plush Stuffed Animals modeled after the animals in Animal Kingdom.*
  • Eco Friendly Water Bottles, Tumblers, and Reusable Bags at Island Merchantile.

*Proceeds from the stuffed animals will also go to supporting the Disney Conservation Fund.

Make sure that you capture all of the exclusive fun with Disney PhotoPass. During this week in Animal Kingdom Disney PhotoPass will be offering new backgrounds and Magic Shots, as well as a new feature of screensavers and Zoom backgrounds that guests can download from My Disney Experience.

Disney will be absolutely abuzz with all of the Earth Day celebrations that are coming to Animal Kingdom? It should be an amazing time for guests full of great and limited opportunities.
