Activities For Grandparents To Enjoy With Grandkids At Disney World

Disney World is a magical vacation destination for all families, and many families enjoy extended family vacations with many of their family members. Disney World is for guests of all ages, and grandparents in particular can really have a magical time exploring the parks with their grandchildren. If you are a grandparent who is thinking of taking your grandchild to Disney World then there are plenty of activities and attractions to enjoy with your grandchild. Part of what makes being a grandparent so special is taking your grandchild on new and exciting adventures and creating memories that will last a lifetime. If you are thinking of taking your grandchild to Disney World this year then be sure to check out these fun activities you can enjoy together.

Character Dining

Character dining is a great way to have wonderful interactions with your grandchild as they meet their favorite Disney characters in an air-conditioned and casual setting. Character dining allows you and your grandchildren to meet Disney characters without having to wait in long lines in the heat. A delicious meal awaits you, and there are many restaurants with different characters to choose from. In order to choose which restaurant to enjoy, start by narrowing down your grandchild’s favorite characters and decide from there. You can also choose whether or not you wish to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner, as some restaurants like Topolino’s Terrace and Ohana only have characters during breakfast hours. If your grandchild is interested in meeting “the fab five” then we highly recommend Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and serves a wonderful buffet of American-style favorites while Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto walk around the restaurant and interact with you.

Gentle Attractions

If you are a grandparent whose thrill ride days are behind them then don’t worry! There are plenty of gentle attractions that you can ride with your grandchild and enjoy together. Disney World is a well-known vacation spot for families and it is designed to be inclusive for all guests. Some of our favorite gentle attractions at Magic Kingdom include “its a small world”, Peter Pan’s Flight, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, The People Mover, The Enchanted Tiki Room, and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.

Watch Popular Shows and Parades

Disney World is so much more than attractions! There are many shows and parades that you absolutely must see. Magic Kingdom’s Festival of Fantasy Parade runs twice daily and features all of your favorite characters and songs from you favorite Disney movies. Hollywood Studios is home to Fantasmic! A spectacular nighttime stage show that stars Mickey Mouse himself as he battles some of Disney’s most evil villains.

Enjoy Your Resort

If you and your grandchild start getting tired from being in the Disney parks then don’t forget to explore your Disney resort and find some activities to do there! If you are staying DVC you have access to wonderful recreational activities like Community Halls, pickle ball courts, walking paths, bike rentals, and of course amazing swimming pools and splash zones!
