Rope dropping is a great way to experience attractions that have high wait times. The term “rope drop” comes from the days when ropes were used to hold back crowds before the park opened. Nowadays, this term simply means to arrive at the parks as soon as they open. If you’re staying at a Disney resort you can enter the parks 30 minutes before they actually open. Many guests make their way towards big and popular attractions during rope drop, but there are other attractions to rope drop with less stress and crowds. If you have an upcoming visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and want some low stress attractions to rope drop then here are a few of our favorites.
Alien Swirling Saucers
Many rope droppers are heading towards Toy Story Land in the morning because of Slinky Dog Dash. But if you don’t want to get caught up in the crowd or the rush you can head towards Alien Swirling Saucers for a more relaxed experience. This attraction is for guests 32 inches or taller and is a fun ride that spins and turns to Toy Story music. After riding this attraction guests can hop in line for Slinky Dog Dash or take photos throughout Toy Story Land.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
Many guests flock to Galaxy’s Edge during rope drop to experience the park’s iconic Star Wars attractions. But right outside of Galaxy’s Edge is a much more low-key rope dropping experience. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is a motion-simulator ride for guests 40 inches or taller. This attraction features 3-D affects that bring the world of Star Wars to life through various destinations and scenarios.

The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror
Not to be overlooked, The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror is a thrilling attraction that is perfect for a relaxed rope drop. This attraction is located on Sunset Boulevard and is for guests 40 inches or taller. Tower of Terror is a drop tower-style attraction with randomized drops so you never know what you might get. While this attraction is popular, it typically doesn’t attract a very large crowd during rope drop. While most guests are headed toward Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge, going the opposite direction toward Sunset Boulevard is a great way to relax and take your time as you experience rope drop.

Toy Story Mania
Another attraction at Toy Story Land that is easy to rope drop is Toy Story Mania. Most of the crowd will congregate towards Slinky Dog Dash. Toy Story Mania has a high-capacity and efficient loading system making it a great ride to rope drop. You might even have time to jump into the Alien Swirling Saucers line before it fills up after your ride!
