The Oldest Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Jungle Cruise

Magic Kingdom first opened its doors to guests in 1971, and throughout the years it has seen several additions and changes. But much of the classic Magic Kingdom can still be found throughout the park today. When Walt Disney was first imagining the Disney parks, he wished for them to be ever-changing and constantly updating. This wish has been honored throughout all Disney parks, but still some classic attractions remain and continue to be enjoyed and loved. If you have an upcoming visit to Disney World, then be sure to not skip the oldest attractions at Magic Kingdom.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

This iconic attraction was an opening day attraction for Magic Kingdom. Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a fun attraction for guests of all ages and allows guests to take to the skies with Dumbo. Guests can choose whether to fly high or low during this experience. In 2012, an addition was made to the park which gave Dumbo a second location, and a playground queue area, allowing for more capacity for the attraction.

The Hall of Presidents

One of Walt Disney’s interests was American history, and this can be seen during the Hall of Presidents attraction. This stage show consists of audio-animatronics representing each president throughout United States history. This attraction is approximately 25 minutes-long and explains American history as well as what presidency is all about.

The Haunted Mansion

Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion attraction is a popular attraction that has been entertaining guests since the 1970s. This attraction is a spooky dark-ride through a manor in which 999 “happy haunts” reside. Guests are treated to animatronics as well as other visual effects. This attraction is spooky, not scary, but some small children might still become frightened by this experience.

“it’s a small world”

Another classic attraction that still remains at Magic Kingdom is “it’s a small world”. Originally created for the World’s Fair, this attraction is home to 300 audio-animatronic dolls singing and dancing to the happiest tune. This attraction is a slow-moving boat ride, a celebration of world culture and connection, and is suitable for guests of all ages and heights.

Peter Pan’s Flight

Another opening day attraction for Magic Kingdom that still operates today is Peter Pan’s Flight. This innovative dark ride features ride vehicles that are suspended, giving guests the illusion of flying high above the ground. This ride is a delight for guests who are fans of Peter Pan, or fans of classic attractions in general.
