Planning your child’s first visit to Disney World can be an exciting time full of anticipation and magical details! You might find yourself planning everything from the clothes they’ll be wearing, to the route you’ll be taking through the park. If you have an upcoming first visit for your child then you might be wondering which attraction they should ride first. While this might seem like a silly thing to plan, your child’s first Disney attraction will set their expectations for the rest of the visit, especially if it is also their very first ride! If that is the case for your child then consider their first attraction carefully. Choose something slow-moving, gentle, and with predictable movement. Here are some ideas for your child’s first attraction at Magic Kingdom.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant
When you think of a Disney attraction, there is a good chance that Dumbo the Flying Elephant pops into your head. This attraction is quintessential Disney and is a great first attraction for kids. During the queue for Dumbo guests have the option to join the play area and jump, climb, and slide while they wait. There’s even an area just for infants to crawl around in. Once it is your turn to ride you exit the queue and prepare for takeoff on your flying elephant. This attraction is great for first-timers because guests can choose whether or not they want to fly Dumbo high or low. This attraction takes place entirely outside and only goes in a circle so little kids can see the ride and know exactly what their experience will be. This attraction’s outdoor location also makes it great for any onlookers to take photos!
“it’s a small world”
Another classic attraction that makes a great first ride is “it’s a small world”. This iconic opening-day attraction designed by Walt Disney himself features hundreds of singing, dancing, happy dolls. Guests board a slow-moving boat and take the happiest cruise on earth through different cultures as they experience what makes us different, and what makes us the same. During this attraction the iconic song plays throughout, feel free to sing along.
Mad Tea Party
Another iconic Disney ride is Mad Tea Party. Located in Fantasyland, this attraction features a very merry un-birthday party with spinning teacups. This is a wonderful first attraction because guests can set the pace of their teacup to either spin or remain still as it is swirled about the attraction. This classic attraction is a must-do for any first timer.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
This charming attraction is just as sweet as it is fun, and is perfect for your little one’s first ride. If you have a Winnie the Pooh fan in your family then be sure to check out The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. This attraction takes guests through the events of the classic 1977 film, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Guests are joined by Pooh and all of his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. Just watch out for those Heffalumps and Woozles!
Prince Charming Regal Carousel
You can’t get any more classic than a carousel, and Magic Kingdom is home to a beautiful one. Prince Charming Regal Carousel is located right behind Cinderella Castle and features stunning carved horses and was first built in 1917. It now resides at Disney World and is a delight to so many guests. This attraction is a wonderful attraction for your little one’s first visit because of its classic style and great views of the castle.
