How To Take A Disney Vacation With An Infant

Baby and parents at Disney World

Going to Disney with an infant is a lot easier than it sounds. Actually, from my experience, 0-6 months is the easiest age to take, I am not joking! Throughout the years I have taken my four kids at all different ages, and my favorite and easiest so far is when my second child was only months old. Other than packing a few extra items, infants are really easy to push around the parks and enjoy the attractions and shows while your little one is snoozing in their stroller or carrier, or snuggling up in your arms. Here are a few ways on how to take a Disney vacation with your infant!

Pack for Every Worst Case Scenario

You are going to have the best day if you pack accordingly. First things first; you of course need a stroller and baby carrier. Pack extra clothes for the dreaded blowout. Don’t pack just one set of extra clothes, because if you do you know your little one will surprise you with two blowouts that day! Extra diapers and wipes! Don’t forget the bottle and milk, or anything you need when breastfeeding.  Also bring a long a fan that can clip onto the stroller. If your little one is taking a snooze, keep them cool from the Florida heat by giving them a breeze. If you happen to forget anything there is a baby care center at each park!

Feel Free to Feed

Disney accommodates the breast feeding Mom anywhere you feel most comfortable! I found it really easy to find a shady spot for me and baby to get comfortable and feed in each park. If you have an infant over 5/6 months, you may want to find a less busy spot since that is around the time they have a hard time feeding if there is a lot to see around them! As mentioned; each park has a baby care center that has an air-conditioned room for feeding. This may be ideal if the Florida heat is getting to you and baby. A show is a great time to sit and let baby get their milk lunch on!

Don’t Skip the Rides

Last Minute Tips

Family at Disney's Hollywood Studios
When traveling with an infant you can bring your own stroller or rent one from Disney.

Remember when making restaurant reservations to include your infant in the head count! You will not have to pay for them if they are under 3, but it gives them a spot at the table. Disney Resorts have pack n’ plays and highchairs available upon request, so be sure to call ahead of time. And last but not least; don’t expect to be at the parks from open to close. Take breaks, don’t push your infant past their limit! Know when it is time to go home and everyone rest! Enjoy your baby’s first time at the most magical place on earth!
