Overview
You can expect a wild time when dining at Whispering Canyon Cafe! Once you enter this log cabin-themed lodge in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you will find yourself immersed in the barbecue of your dreams! You’ll immediately notice that, unlike most Disney restaurants, the servers here have an extra sass and pizzaz when it comes to your interactions. For example, if you ask for too many refills, in their opinion, you might end up with a pitcher with a straw in it instead of just a regular glass.
If you don’t want to participate in the shenanigans and want to enjoy your meal in peace, turn your dining preference card to “watch from the fence”. This will signal your server that you’d like a regular dining experience.
Whispering Canyon Cafe is open for brunch, lunch, and dinner throughout the week, where you will find endless skillets of food brought to your table. If you love Mickey Waffles for breakfast, this is undoubtedly the place for you! At brunch, you will also find options such as bacon, scrambled eggs, and buttermilk biscuits known as The Heritage Skillet. Barbecue for breakfast? You’re in luck! You can order The Carnivore skillet that features Maple-Chipotle Barbecued Slow-smoked Pork Ribs, Oak-smoked Beef Brisket, Barbecued Pulled Pork, and vegetables. If a bottomless meal is not your style, you can order single entrees such as a pepper jack cheese frittata or a seared impossible burger for brunch.
When joining for lunch and dinner, the skillets and menu items change compared to the brunch menu. If you’re a meat lover, The Traditional or The Land and Sea skillet might be the best selection featuring meats, fish, and many tasty sides. Now if you’re on the light side you can order the Plant-based skillet, including Maple-Chipotle Barbecued Jackfruit, Spicy ‘Sausage’, Mustard-glazed Beefless Tips, Herb-brushed Trick’n Chick’n, Roasted Potatoes, Oven-roasted Carrots, Sautéed Green Beans, and Charred Peppers. Once again, if you don’t want a bottomless meal, you can always stick to an individual entree.
If you need some ketchup, don’t be surprised if your server asks everyone in the entire restaurant to bring every bottle of ketchup your way. You’ll notice this becomes a fun game between the tables dining in the restaurant very quickly. As you may know from dining at most Disney restaurants, you want to make sure you save room for dessert here at The Whispering Canyon Cafe. Granny Smith Apple Pie is the must-order dessert for being a crowd favorite, followed by Whispering Canyon Pioneer Chocolate Cake.
