The much-anticipated 2024 runDisney Coast to Coast Challenge medals have been revealed by RunDisney on Instagram. These medals are awarded to participants who complete a half marathon distance or greater at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort in the same runDisney season.
Return of the Disneyland Half Marathon
This challenge is making a comeback alongside the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, an event that hasn’t been held since 2017.
Track One Challenge: Silver Medal
The first medal takes the shape of a silver suitcase, with the words “Coast to Coast” prominently displayed in black letters on yellow and blue squares. Below this, the words “Race Challenge” are inscribed in white cursive on blue rectangles. The runDisney, Walt Disney World, and Disneyland Resort wordmarks, along with the year “2024,” are all embossed on the medal.
Two spinning medallions in the top left and bottom right corners showcase the resort’s iconic castles and the Mickey Mouse runDisney logo. Silhouettes of Florida and California are featured in the other corners. The strap is black and bears the “Coast to Coast Race Challenge” print in a design similar to that on the medal.
Qualification Requirements
The suitcase silver medal is assumed to be for track one challenge, which requires completing the half marathon during the 2024 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend and at least one of the following:
- 2024 Walt Disney World Half Marathon
- 2024 Walt Disney World Marathon
Multi-event challenges also count towards qualification for the runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal.
Track Two Challenge: Bronze Medal
The second medal is a bronze medallion, with the “Coast to Coast Race Challenge” design set against yellow and blue blocks in the center. The runDisney logo and stars surround the challenge name in white. Two medallions present the castles in color and bronze images of the Mickey running logo. This medal comes with a blue strap.
Qualification Requirements
For the bronze medallion, which is assumed to be for track two, requires completing the half marathon or challenge during either the 2024 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend or the 2024 Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend, plus any qualifying event at Walt Disney World Resort in 2024.
Key Dates
The 2024 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is set for January 3rd – 7th, 2024, while the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is just a week later on January 11th – 14th.
