Traditional Character Meet And Greets Finally Returning To Disney

Update:

As promised, the Disney Parks Blog gave us more information on the return of up close character greetings. Up close character greetings will return to Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Aulani and the Disney Cruise Line as early as April 18th.

The day we have all been waiting for is almost here, traditional character meet and greets are finally returning!

The news was announced via the official Disney Park TikTok account using a short clip of Mickey beckoning guests closer and giving himself a hug. The official date is supposed to be announced March 31st. Based on the hashtags, it seems that traditional character meet and greets will be returning to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, and even Disney Cruises as well.

Although it is just speculation, many online are guessing that the date will be sometime after Easter, possible even April 18th. Only time will tell if the guess is correct!

This news comes after Disneyland Paris removed restrictions for their character meet and greets, allowing guests to get all of the hugs they want after such a very long time.

Traditional character meet and greets were put on hold when the Disney parks reopened due to the pandemic. As things have been calming down and returning to normal, Disney has created many ways for guests to see and visit with their favorite characters. First it was limited to cavalcades and socially distanced character sightings but overtime guests were able to meet characters indoors and even with no masks on!

It seems that the wait will be over very soon and guests can go back to hugging their favorite characters! What do you think of Who are you going to hug first? Stay tuned into the DVC Shop Blog for the official date!
