Have you missed hugging your favorite Disney characters during the last two years? Well the wait is almost over! Traditional character meet and greets are returning soon to Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort!
This news comes after Disneyland Paris has recently brought back their character meet and greets complete with hugs and autographs for their 30th-anniversary celebration. When Disney CFO Christine McCarthy was asked about character meet and greets returning to normal, she replied that character meet and greets would be returning to the domestic parks “soon”.
Although no official date has been announced by Disney as to when this change will happen, this news gives guests hope that they will be able to enjoy meeting their beloved characters more up close and personal once again.
Disney character meet and greets have always been the pinnacle of any Disney vacation from hugging a princess in a park to getting an autograph during a character dining experience. The traditional meet and greets had to stop due to social distancing regulations due to COVID-19 and Disney attempted to find ways around that.
Character sightings and cavalcades were put in place in the Disney parks to allow guests to still see some of the most popular characters while maintaining social distancing guidelines. Only a few were added at first with many returning through the last two years. Character dining experiences were also modified as well to allow guests to still see characters from a distanced. While these character sightings have scratched the itch to see the characters, there is nothing quite like a hug, especially for little ones.
