Tokyo Disney

Traveling to the international Disney parks and resorts is a bucket list item for many guests. Disney has parks in Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Tokyo Disneyland is a popular destination for many fans of Disney, with so many considering it one of the best Disney parks of all time. Tokyo Disneyland has dozens of attractions, intricate parades and shows, and beautifully themed resorts. It is also home to a neighboring park: Tokyo Disney Sea. If you are planning on visiting Tokyo Disneyland in the future then be sure to check out our tips and tricks for first time visitors!

Take the Disney Resort Line Train

If you are traveling to Tokyo Disneyland from Tokyo you can easily use the Tokyo train system. Guests can take the Disney Resort Line from JR Maihama Station. The Disney Resort line travels to Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Sea, and Disney resorts.

Expect to Wait If Arriving Early

If you want to enter the park as soon as it opens you should plan on arriving quite early. Guests begin lining up for entry, at times, over an hour in advance of the park opening. If you are getting to the park right at opening time then expect to have a bit of a wait. Tokyo Disneyland is extremely efficient however, so you won’t be waiting too long even if you don’t arrive early.

Cultural Differences to Anticipate

There are a few cultural differences that guests should take note of during their vacation to Tokyo Disneyland. Japanese culture values blending in, therefore it is typically expected to be quiet in public and especially so in indoor spaces. If you are taking children with you to Tokyo Disneyland then it is probably a good idea to go over “inside voice” and when this will be expected of them.

It isn’t a bad idea to learn some basic Japanese phrases in anticipation of your trip, though most Cast Members will be able to speak English. Brush up on basic phrases for thank you, hello, and excuse me. In Japan, guests are quite enthusiastic about parades and shows. You will see guests dancing along with characters during performances.

Portions will be smaller throughout Tokyo Disneyland. If you typically share meals with your family at Disney World you might not be able to do that here. Everything is very orderly when traveling through Tokyo Disneyland. Guests don’t stop in the middle of walkways, lines are close together and efficient, and the crowd is constantly flowing.

Use The Tokyo Disneyland Resort App

Guests should download the official Tokyo Disneyland Resort app for wait times, lists of attractions and restaurants, and access to priority pass and mobile ordering.

Use Priority Pass

Priority Pass at Tokyo Disneyland is a service that is much like Disney’s old Fastpass system. Guests can select attractions and get a boarding time window to return to and board the ride. This service is free of charge and included with admission.
