Part of what makes Disney vacations so magical is how flexible they can be. Between the 4 Disney parks, waterparks, Disney Springs, and many Disney resorts, guests can truly customize their vacation and do what works for them. Some guests prefer long trips to Disney World with one park per day, or even multiple days per park. However, if you only have a short amount of time to dedicate to your Disney vacation you can still create a magical experience to remember forever. Long weekends are perfect for guests who have a hard time taking off work, or for families who don’t want to take their kids out of school. If you are planning a long weekend trip to Disney World then here are just some ideas on how to spend your time.
Disney Waterparks
Disney World has an incredible offer for guests in 2025. Guests of any Disney resort get a waterpark ticket to use the day of their check-in completely free. For guests who are doing a resort-only weekend trip this is an amazing opportunity to add in some attractions and experiences to your stay. Guests can spend the day at either Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon waterpark or Disney’s Blizzard Beach Waterpark depending on which is open during their vacation. Each waterpark has a variety of pools, slides, and attractions that will accommodate guests of all ages and heights. Spending a day at the waterpark will really set your long weekend trip off right and get you into the Disney spirit.

Resort Hop
A long weekend won’t grant you a lot of park time, but with so many resorts to explore on property you can have a fun-filled weekend regardless. Many guests enjoy riding the monorail and exploring each resort on the line, and then doing the same with the Skyliner resorts. Guests who are staying at Old Key West can also ride the water taxi and enjoy Port Orleans’ French Quarter during their visit. Each Disney resort has its own restaurants, bars, shops, and experiences to enjoy. While resort hopping you can enjoy Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, eat beignets at Port Orleans’ French Quarter, ride a surrey bike at Disney’s Boardwalk, and so much more.

Pick One Park To Enjoy
Some guests can’t fathom visiting Disney World without going to a park, and for those guests we recommend choosing one park and dedicating your entire trip around it! If you want to visit Magic Kingdom during your long weekend trip then stay at a monorail resort so you can have quick and easy access to the park. If EPCOT is your favorite then consider staying at Disney’s Boardwalk where you can walk there, or at Disney’s Riviera and use the Skyliner. If Animal Kingdom is your jam then consider staying at the nearby Animal Kingdom Lodge so you can have additional animal-related experiences and be close to the park as well.
