DVC Shop’s Friday For Foodies is an exploration of dining at the Walt Disney World Resort. The first series in this journey through Disney World’s food is called “Eating Around The World Showcase at EPCOT”. As part of this series, DVC Shop will dine at restaurants around the World Showcase in order to explore their food items and overall dining experience. This week’s featured dining location is La Hacienda de San Angel!
Overview of La Hacienda de San Angel
La Hacienda de San Angel is one of the sit-down dining locations in the Mexico Pavilion. This EPCOT restuarant is not located in the pavilion’s main building but rather across from it, along the World Showcase Lagoon. Big windows in the dining area provide beautiful views of the lagoon and the other pavilions. Brightly colored art and ornate light fixtures create this restaurant’s stunning atmosphere.
Food & Drink Items We Tried
The menu at La Hacienda de San Angel consists of authentic cuisine from the different regions of Mexico. During our visit to La Hacienda de San Angel, we were able to try some of these food and drink items!
Drinks
Create Your Own Margarita Flight – $38
We started off with the Create Your Own Margarita Flight from the Handcrafted Premium Margaritas section of the menu. There are 5 options to choose from: El Diablo, Blood Orange, The Cucumber, Clásica, and The Wild One. We picked Blood Orange, Clásica, and The Wild One, which was our favorite!
Starters
Queso Fundido – $16.00
This appetizer is melted cheese with chorizo, peppers, onions, and avocado mousse. It is served with flour tortillas. Queso Fundido is a delicious dish that is perfect for sharing.
Totopos – $8.25
The second starter we tried are the Totopos which is corn tortillas with sides of white cheddar cheese and salsa. What is special about this dish is that the corn tortillas are house-made each day at La Hacienda de San Angel!
House Specialties
Carne Asada – $54.00
La Hacienda de San Angel’s Carne Asada is ancho agave marinated New York strip, roasted asparagus, and poblano gratin potatoes. It is important to note that this House Specialty is not included on the Disney Dining Plan.
Entrées
Tacos de Camarónes – $32.00
Along with the carne asada, we tried the Tacos de Camarónes from the “Entrées” section of the menu. These flour tortilla tacos are made with fried shrimp, chipotle-lime aioli, cabbage, and salsa verde. This meal is served with rice.
Desserts
Pan de Elotes Tres Leches – $12.00
No Disney meal is complete without a few desserts! The first item we tried from the dessert section was the Pan de Elotes Tres Leches. This dish is rice milk-soaked Mexican corn bread topped with sweetcorn gelato and toasted almonds.
Helado con Churros – $11.00
Next, we ordered the Helado con Churros. This item is Dulce de Leche ice cream with churros and topped with a caramel-like sauce called cajeta.
