DVC Tower At Polynesian Village Resort: Construction Update – July ’23

The Polynesian Village Resort is making significant strides in its expansion project, with the construction of the new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) wing progressing steadily. This addition will provide a much-needed increase in available accommodations for DVC members, simplifying the process of booking stays at this highly sought-after resort located on the monorail line.

Rewinding to our last update in April, the new DVC tower had almost fully emerged from the ground, exterior paneling was being installed, and construction crews had all but finished the construction of the elevator shafts. Fast forward to today, and we can clearly see the transformation that has taken place. The tower is now taking on a definitive shape, with multiple additional structures also under development. Let’s delve into the progress since then!

The recent progress on the tower from the outside has been mostly in the width of the building. It seems as though the final height of the main building was reached back in April, and now we are seeing crews build additional connected building outward from the main initial tower.

In this side view we can really start to see how these once separate buildings are being tied together to form the final tower. Based on the artist rendering that Disney previously provided, the building on the left that is angled away from the rest of the structure will most likely double in width.

Also, on the opposite side of the construction site, we should see this building expanded outward to further wrap around the lagoon or lake that is shown in the rendering.

With a targeted opening date of late 2024, it looks like the construction on this project is making great progress, but of course there is still an long way to go until DVC owners and renters will be able to enjoy these new villas.

New Room Types Rumored

There is a popular notion that the new wing of DVC will have a wider range of room options. DVC members can only choose between studios or 2 bedroom bungalows at the Polynesian Resort at the moment. The new DVC wing is rumored to have villas that are suitable for guests who want a room to fit more people than the studios available now, but cost fewer vacation points than the bungalows that are currently available.
