Bob Chapek, Disney’s CEO has stated that Disneyland will reopen on April 29. This is the moment that Californians have been waiting for an entire year, and it is finally here.
The tentative late April opening date was announced during the recent Annual Shareholder Meeting, with the official date announced Wednesday, March 10.
Disneyland and California Adventure Reopening
Both Disneyland Park and Disney California AdventurePark will open their doors again April 29. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa will be opening on May 7. Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel also shares the Grand Californian’s May 7 reopening date. This announcement does not change that the Grand Californian will be reopening exclusively to Disney Vacation Club Members on May 2.
California Legislation Paving The Way To Reopening
California legislators announced theme parks like Disneyland will be allowed to open in April 1st as long as the county remains in the red tier. However, Disney is choosing a late April reopening date to make the transition as smooth as possible for their Cast Members and update the theme parks with COVID guidelines. Cast Members will be returning to work on the April 1st date, to prepare the park and get back into the magical groove of Disney.
A Touch of Disney Food and Beverage Event
The “A Touch of Disney” event may also be a factor for the late April date. The event will be taking place inside of California Adventure. Opening on April 29 will provide Disney with the opportunity to finish the “A Touch of Disney” event and put finishing touches on the California parks before the big reopening day.
