Disney World Opens Its Find Merchandise App Tool to Every Guest

Shopping at Walt Disney World can mean a lot of walking, especially when you are hunting for one specific item. A tool inside the My Disney Experience app aims to make that search easier, and it just became available to everyone. The Find Merchandise feature, which started as a small test, has now expanded to all guests as part of an ongoing pilot. Here is how it works and what to know before you rely on it.

What the Find Merchandise Feature Does

Find Merchandise lets you look up products and check whether they are in stock without walking the sales floor. You search for an item, open its page, and ask the app to check availability at a participating store.

The feature first appeared in a limited test last November, but only a small number of guests could see it. Now anyone with the app can pull it up. Disney still labels it as a test, so the same limits that applied during the early rollout remain in place.

How to Access the Tool

Today, you can type “find merchandise” into the app’s search bar and tap the “Find Merchandise – Now Testing!” result. From there, tap “Start Searching” to reach the main search page. The change is mostly about access, since the underlying tool carries the same functions and restrictions as before.

How the Search Works

Once you are on the search page, you have a few ways to look for products. You can enter a keyword, browse the top products Disney highlights, or tap one of the trending tags. The current trending row includes Pins, Spirit Jersey, and Plush.

A keyword search returns a grid of matching items with names and prices. For example, a search for “Mickey Mouse” brings up several plush options at different price points, giving you a quick view of what is available and how much each item costs.

What You See on a Product Page

Tap an item, and the app opens a full product page. There you will find the price, a Product Details section, and a “Check Shop Availability” button near the bottom.

When you tap that button, the tool checks current stock and shows where the item is available. A “Show Map” option flips the result to a Walt Disney World map with the store pinned, while “Show List” returns you to the text view. That map feature helps you find the location once you know the item is in stock.

The Current Limitation

It is important to set expectations here. The expansion changed who can use the tool, not where it works. A banner on the results screen notes that you only see results for the World of Disney store at Disney Springs.

In practice, that means the feature cannot yet help you track an item across the four theme parks, the resort hotels, or the rest of Disney Springs. For now, it is a single-store tool with a much wider audience.

Conclusion

The Find Merchandise tool gives all guests a simple way to check product prices and stock through the My Disney Experience app, complete with a map to point you to the item. The catch is that it still only covers the World of Disney store at Disney Springs. As the pilot continues, the move to full access is a sign that more updates could follow, so it is worth keeping an eye on how the feature grows.
