DinoLand USA Transformation Timeline Insights: What to Expect at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Pueblo Esperanza

As Disney’s Animal Kingdom continues to evolve, one significant change on the horizon is the transformation of DinoLand USA. Beginning in January 2025, this area will undergo a phased closure to make way for the upcoming Tropical Americas theme. This update is part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to refresh and enhance guest experiences while preserving the park’s unique storytelling.

Details of the Closure

The phased closure of DinoLand USA will officially start on January 13, 2025. As part of this update, several attractions and experiences will permanently close. Among the first to close are the popular TriceraTop Spin and the Fossil Fun Games. These closures are steps toward the introduction of the new Tropical Americas area, slated for completion in 2027.

Affected Attractions and Experiences

In addition to the ride and games, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures gift shop will also close its doors. However, not all areas of DinoLand USA are closing immediately. Attractions like DINOSAUR, the Boneyard play area, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will remain open for the time being. Disney has not announced closure dates for these experiences, suggesting they will be available to guests for now.

Looking Forward: The Tropical Americas

Dinoland U.S.A. retheming to Tropical Amerias Theme

Disney has released relatively detailed plans for the Tropical Americas theme, which promises to bring fresh and engaging experiences that align with the park’s immersive storytelling. This new land aims to offer guests an innovative exploration of the diverse cultures and ecosystems found within the Topical Americas.

Conclusion

The transformation of DinoLand USA marks an exciting period of change for Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While the phased closures will mean saying goodbye to some beloved attractions, the introduction of the Tropical Americas promises to deliver new adventures and stories for guests to enjoy. As Disney continues to develop this new area, visitors can look forward to a revitalized experience that celebrates the wonders of the natural world.
