5 Must-Do’s For Children at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a park that is great for guests of all ages. There are thrill rides like DINOSAUR, Expedition Everest, and Flight of Passage for older guests but there are several attractions for younger guests as well. Animal Kingdom has several family-friendly things to do and see, and lots of attractions that appeal to children. 1. The Boneyard

Located in DinoLand U.S.A., The Boneyard is a massive play area designed to resemble a paleontologist dig site. This playground has slides and play structures for children of all ages so everyone can join in on the fun. Kids can climb netting, explore caves, and zoom down twisting slides. The Dig Site is located within this area where children can uncover dinosaur bones in a sand pit while adults enjoy the fans blowing overhead.

2. Kilimanjaro Safaris

Animal Kingdom’s iconic attraction, Kilimanjaro Safaris, is an African safari experience unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before. This attraction is for guests of all ages and heights, and children in particular love seeing these incredible animals up close. The thing that makes Kilimanjaro Safaris unique is that the animals are free-roaming throughout their enviroment, giving guests an authentic look into their daily lives.

3. The Affection Section

Did you know that Animal Kingdom is home to a petting zoo? After boarding the Wildlife Express train and entering Rafiki’s Planet Watch, guests can find The Affection Section. The Affection Section is a petting zoo featuring goats, pigs, cows, and other animals that enjoy a gentle touch. Guests are invited into The Affection Section where they can safely and respectfully interact with these lovable creatures.

4. Discovery Island Trails

Near the Tree of Life guests can find Discovery Island Trails. These trails are great for families with children because of the animals they can find along the way. Guests can see Asian Small-Clawed Otters, Flamingos, Red Kangaroos, Storks, and so much more. This is a great way to take a break from rides and attractions and slow down and enjoy the beauty and nature of the park.

5. Wilderness Explorer Stations

A great way to get your kids involved during your visit to Animal Kingdom is by visiting the Wilderness Explorer Stations located throughout the park. At these stations children can earn Wilderness Explorer Badges by finding certain areas, animals, or completing tasks. Finding these stations and earning badges is a great way to keep your children interested in exploring the park.
