Throughout its parks and resorts, Disney World offers a number of entertaining activities. These can be a great way to further immerse yourself in the magical world of Disney; and best of all, many of them are complimentary! Be sure to check out these five free activities during your next visit to Disney World.
1. Visit the Royal Portrait Studio at Sir Mickey’s
Did you know you can get a portrait studio session right inside Magic Kingdom? Simply visit Sir Mickey’s shop in Fantasyland (just behind Cinderella Castle) where you will find the Royal Portrait Studio. Disney PhotoPass photographers are standing by to capture your portrait with a scenic backdrop and fun props–no reservations or photo session fee required. While the photo session is free, please note you’ll need to have a Memory Maker or Annual Pass to download photos taken on the PhotoPass photographer’s camera.
You can also find portrait studios in Disney Springs and the Grand Floridian for more complimentary photo sessions!
2. Get Pixie Dusted!
Also at Sir Mickey’s shop, you can ask one of the friendly cast members for some pixie dust! If the Fairy Godmother has left any there that day, a cast member will shake a magic wand over your head and sprinkle you with some pixie dust. Just keep in mind, the “pixie dust” is a super fine glitter which may stay on you for some time (a long-lasting reminder of your magical day!).
3. Go On a Disney Resort Scavenger Hunt
Another perk of staying at a Disney resort is that many offer a free resort scavenger hunt activity. During your visit, make sure to stop by the front desk and ask if they offer one (availability may vary). These scavenger hunts provide an entertaining way to explore the resort and find hidden nooks and crannies as you search for clues from your checklist. Some resorts even offer a small prize for completing the scavenger hunt!
4. Complete “A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas” in Magic Kingdom
This underrated activity in Magic Kingdom provides an interactive exploration of Adventureland and a fun, free keepsake. Stop by The Crow’s Nest (across from Tortuga Tavern) to start your mission; there, you’ll receive a treasure map that will guide you on your quest through Adventureland to find secret pirate treasures. There are five different missions, and after you complete each one you’ll receive a special treasure finder card. If you complete all five you’ll receive a special card that has been signed by Captain Jack Sparrow himself!
5. Get Cozy At Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long
While most Disney resorts offer a nightly campfire activity, only one features an unforgettable character experience–for free! At The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, there is a nightly campfire (weather permitting) where you can sing along with a live guitar player, get hugs and pictures with Chip and Dale, and watch a classic Disney movie under the stars on an outdoor screen. This complimentary activity is perfect for all ages, but is especially enjoyed by little ones.
