Are you wanting to visit Walt Disney World, but are looking for a hotel with a New England-style theme, colonial architecture, and a muted color scheme? If so, consider booking a stay at DVC’s Beach Club Resort. Here are five things that we suggest for your next stay at the property!
1. Enjoy a Variety of Transportation Options
EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are my favorite theme parks. When I stay at Disneys Beach Club, I love that I am a five-minute walk from EPCOT and a fifteen-minute walk from Hollywood Studios. The walking path between the Beach Club and the two theme parks is unbeatable. EPCOT is unique because of the nightly fireworks, diverse food selections throughout the World Showcase, and the reality that it attracts more infrequent crowds (not to mention it is enormous). If you visit the Beach Club, you can exit out a side door and be at the entrance to EPCOT in less than five minutes. There are seldom crowds in the morning, and you can effortlessly jump on the monorail to get to the Magic Kingdom. The Beach Club is the only resort allowing you to use other modes of transportation for the theme parks (walk to EPCOT, boat to Hollywood Studios, Monorail to Magic Kingdom through EPCOT, bus to Animal Kingdom, Skyliner to Hollywood Studios).
2. Tackle the Kitchen Sink
I don’t know about you, but I am a huge, and I mean HUGE, ice cream enthusiast. Lucky for me, Disney’s Beach Club is home to Beaches and Cream Soda Shop, a restaurant serving some of the best ice cream on Disney property. Beaches and Cream is known for a sundae called The Kitchen Sink, which has a whole can of whipped cream, scoops of Chocolate, Strawberry,Vanilla, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Cookies and Cream, topped with Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter, Oreos, Fresh-baked Brownie, and smothered in every additional topping on hand, ordering it IS a big deal. It is priced at $35.00 and serves four people. Are you brave enough to tackle the challenge?
3. Go Swimming
Disney’s Beach Club Resort is set apart from all other Walt Disney World Resorts because it is home to a three- acre waterpark style pool called Stormalong Bay. When I stay at the Beach Club, I intentionally carve out two days just to enjoy the pool area. With a sand bottom, lazy river, three whirlpool spas, a 230-foot long slide (one of the tallest resort slides at Disney!), and a small slide for toddlers in the shipwreck zone, it is sure to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
4. Rent a Cabana
Renting a cabana is a terrific way to make your resort pool day even more memorable. Cabana rentals at Disney World are secured quickly. If this interests you, please make a reservation 60 days prior to the start of your vacation.
You can access the cabana rental from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. — half-day or hourly rentals will be unavailable.
Expect to spend about $300 on the rental, but please know that pricing may fluctuate based on the season. Upon arrival, please expect to be greeted by the attendant, who will show you to your cabana and collect your towels. Also, when you arrive, you can enjoy a miniature fridge fully stocked with water, soda, fruit, and juice. The attendant can grab alcohol for you, too, at an additional charge. Ultimately, The cabana rental is a highly-recommended experience for all to enjoy.
1. Dine at the Yachtsman Steakhouse
When staying at Disney’s Beach Club, reserve a table at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. It is one of the most popular restaurants at Walt Disney World, so make your reservation as far in advance as possible. It is an outstanding restaurant for dates, especially for steak enthusiasts who want the utmost quality in their steak and preparation. Try their truffle fries and peppercorn sauce when you dine at the Yachtsman. They are served for an additional cost but truly enhance your meal. It is open in the evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and a clean-cut dress code is required. After you dine at the Yachtsman, you will understand why it is a restaurant that keeps guests returning year after year.
Disclaimer: This restaurant is located at the Yacht Club, the Beach Club’s sister Resort, but it is well worth the short walk that it takes you to visit.
I hope these recommendations make you enthusiastic about a visit to Disney’s Beach Club Resort. These are only some of the reasons it is a popular place to stay. While there are many hotels to choose from at Disney World, the the relaxed beach-like atmosphere keeps guests returning again and again. Enjoy your stay!
