Traveling to Magic Kingdom as a family means you are in for a vacation full of memories and magic. Disney World is not just for little kids but for big kids and grown-ups as well! Part of what makes Magic Kingdom so special and unique is its 6 distinct lands, each with their own attractions and entertainment options. Between Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Adventureland, Liberty Square, Tomorrowland, and Frontierland, you can find something for everyone in your family to enjoy. If you are traveling to Magic Kingdom with older kids then you’ll soon understand why I recommend spending some time in Frontierland. Continue reading to learn more about why Frontierland is the best land for big kids.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Frontierland’s newest attraction will be the perfect thrill for your big kids and you. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a journey through the bayou down slippery hills and splash-filled scenes. Join Tiana as she travels to find a band of critters for her restaurant’s celebration. Several drops are placed throughout the attraction including the grand finale 50 foot plunge. Guests will be delighted by the audio-animatronic scenes and will be able to spot all of their favorite characters from The Princess and the Frog film. This adventure is perfect for big kids who are 40 inches or taller.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
If your big kids are into roller coasters then you are in luck. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the perfect family roller coaster experience. For guests 40 inches or taller, this coaster is “the wildest ride in the wilderness”. Travel through twisting turns and experience sudden drops during this wild train ride through an abandoned ghost town.

Tom Sawyer Island (Closing Soon!)
Experience this attraction with your big kids while you still can! Projected to close at some point during 2025 to make way for the Frontierland expansion, Tom Sawyer Island is an adventure experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen at a Disney park. Just a raft ride away, Tom Sawyer Island is a self-guided attraction where guests can explore to their heart’s content. You’ll find abandoned mines, caves, and even a fort. You can cross treacherous barrel bridges and explore different paths until you find your way. This island is the perfect big kid attraction because it truly feels like you are exploring and adventuring. Big kids love feeling like they have free reign over this experience and will love leading their family through. You can stay on Tom Sawyer Island as long as you please and return via the same raft that you entered with.

Diamond Horseshoe
This restaurant is perfect for big kids with big appetites. Featuring an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet full of classic American holiday food, big kids will love this dining experience. Enjoy carved turkey, pot roast, pork, mashed potatoes, stuffing, mac and cheese, and ooey gooey toffee cake in a casual setting.
