What to Pack For The RunDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend

The RunDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend is coming up soon, and while you must be filled with anticipation for all the weekend will bring, you might be wondering what to pack. If you find yourself in that predicament, read on for packing suggestions to set you up for success.

What Is Springtime Surprise Weekend?

The Springtime Surprise Weekend is a magical race weekend at the Walt Disney World Resort from Thursday, April 18th, 2024, until Sunday, April 21st, 2024. There will be yoga, a Neverland 5K, an Adventure Is Out There 10K, a Hakuna Matata 10-Miler, and an ‘Ohana Challenge. During the Ohana Challenge, runners are dared to complete all of the races. If they do, they will earn a special medal. Pretty cool, huh?

What To Pack For The Races

When I have participated in RunDisney events, the following items have served me well:

  • A Cooling Towel – I suggest purchasing one on Amazon.com.
  • Granola Bars – I suggest purchasing these from Publix.
  • Running Shorts – I suggest purchasing these from the Nike Store at the Orlando International Premium Outlet Mall.
  • Running Shoes – Try to break in shoes before your race and bring a pair you have worn before, but if you need shoes the day before your run, the Fit 2 Run Store at Disney Springs will have what you need.
  • Running Socks – I suggest purchasing these from Fit 2 Run in Disney Springs.
  • Bluetooth Wireless Headphones – I suggest purchasing these on Amazon.com.
  • A Fanny Pack – I suggest purchasing this from Lululemon or Gym Shark.
  • A Fuel Rod – You can buy these inside Disney Parks or on Fuel Rod.com.
  • A Fitbit – I suggest purchasing this from Fitbit.com.

These items are my top suggestions, but every person is different!

Pro Tip: I recommend bringing mylar blankets and ponchos that can be bought inexpensively from Wal-Mart and Target, at the Disney Parks, or Disney Resort Hotels. Ponchos can be worn at the beginning of the race until you heat up. I consistently carry a waterproof case for my phone and extra plastic baggies in different sizes. It does not matter how crazy you might look. The most important thing is that you stay as warm as possible. Trust me. You will thank me later. I did not bring these items for my first race, and I regretted it. They have been staples ever since. Staying warm and dry is important.

Ultimately, no matter what you decide to bring, your RunDisney experience will be memorable. Please do not stress too much when packing for the race. The most important thing is that you have fun and enjoy your time. After all, you are running a race through the Walt Disney World Resort. How often does that happen?!  So, relax. Take a deep breath and enjoy the journey. It will be something that you and your fellow racers will remember for years to come. Have a great race!
