Tiana’s Palace Restaurant Opening On September 7th At Disneyland

Disneyland Resort is all set to welcome its guests to the much-anticipated Tiana’s Palace Restaurant on September 7th, 2023. This grand opening will mark another milestone in Disneyland’s ongoing efforts to bring more of Princess Tiana’s stories to life.

Located in the heart of New Orleans Square, Tiana’s Palace is inspired by “The Princess and the Frog,” Disney’s animated classic that introduced us to the ambitious and resilient Princess Tiana. As part of Disneyland’s reimagining of New Orleans Square, the restaurant will offer a quick-service style dining experience with a unique twist.

Tiana’s Palace Pays Homage To It’s New Orleans Heritage

The restaurant is adorned with refined yet understated elements that gently hint at Tiana’s rich New Orleans heritage. Beneath the illuminated “Tiana’s Palace” marquee, suspended over a golden balcony, lies an emerald green wrought iron railing and awnings in shades of yellow and green, echoing Tiana’s elegant ball gown. With Mardi Gras colors enveloping you, you’ll find yourself seated at yellow tables, on cream-toned chairs with green cushions, under yellow and green umbrellas.

Disney’s Imagineers have incorporated influences from the film into the restaurant’s interior, including a grand bayou mural. Other nods to Tiana’s narrative can be spotted throughout – lilies embellishing various signs, plaques, and light fixtures, frog-themed porcelain, Tiana’s collection of cookbooks neatly arranged on shelves, and her father’s cherished gumbo spoon displayed prominently. Look out for letters from her father and neighbors, as well as a childhood photograph of Tiana.

Here’s a fun fact: The design of Tiana’s Palace from the animated Disney film “The Princess and the Frog” took inspiration from the French Market Restaurant, previously occupying this space, in New Orleans Square at Disneyland park. In the movie, Disney animators added a wheelhouse and two smokestacks to give Tiana’s restaurant a distinctive silhouette. When the time came to actualize Tiana’s Palace at Disneyland, the Imagineers replicated those additions, making this a truly full circle moment!

Princess Tiana’s Story Brought To Life

The opening of Tiana’s Palace precedes the addition of Disneyland’s new attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, scheduled for 2024. This immersive experience will further expand on Princess Tiana’s narrative, allowing guests to step into her world like never before.

So mark your calendars, because on September 7th, Disneyland Resort invites you to be a part of this magical journey. Whether you’re a fan of Princess Tiana, a foodie eager to explore New Orleans cuisine, or a Disneyland regular looking for new experiences, Tiana’s Palace promises a memorable visit for everyone.
