Refurbishment Work Runs Longer at BoardWalk Inn and Old Key West

Disney Boardwalk Villas

Walt Disney World has updated the refurbishment notices for two of its Disney Resort hotels, and both projects will now take longer than first planned. Work at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas will continue into 2027. Exterior maintenance at Disney’s Old Key West Resort has also been pushed later into the fall. If you have a stay booked or plan to visit either resort in the coming months, here is what the changes mean for you.

BoardWalk Inn and Villas Work Moves Into 2027

Disney’s earlier notice said refurbishment work in select areas of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas would wrap up in late 2026. The updated notice now says the work will continue “now through 2027.”

Guests may see or hear construction during daytime hours while the project is underway. Disney has not said which areas will be affected next, and it has not given a firm completion date for 2027. For now, it makes sense to expect some activity around the resort throughout your stay, mostly during the day.

Village Green Turf Replacement Now Complete

One part of the BoardWalk project is already finished. The Village Green, the open lawn area in front of the resort, recently went through a refurbishment. Crews removed the old turf and replaced it with new artificial turf.

The space is open again for guests to enjoy. It is a small update, but it shows the kind of routine upkeep happening across the BoardWalk area as the larger project continues.

Luna Park Pool Closing in January 2027

More work is already on the calendar for early next year. Beginning January 11, 2027, three spots at the resort will close for routine maintenance through April 2027:

  • Luna Park Pool
  • Luna Park Crazy Play Area
  • Leaping Horse Libations

Guests will still have places to swim during this period. Disney says the Villas Pool and the Inn Pool will stay open while the Luna Park area is closed. Families who enjoy the Luna Park Pool and its play features may want to plan a trip before January or after the work ends in April.

Old Key West Hospitality House Maintenance Extended

Over at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney has also updated its notice for work at Hospitality House. This building serves as the resort’s main lobby and guest services area. It is undergoing exterior maintenance.

The previous notice said the work would end in mid-September 2026. The new notice extends it through fall 2026. Guests may see or hear work during daytime hours, and at times they may be directed to use alternate paths to get around the building. For most visitors, the main effects will be some daytime noise and a few temporary changes to walking routes.

A Busy Year of Updates at Old Key West

The Hospitality House project is one piece of a wider refurbishment period at Old Key West. The resort has been working through guest room updates, with changes to kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, and soft goods.

Earlier this year, several pool and recreation areas also went through routine maintenance. That work included the Turtle Pond and South Point areas. Taken together, these projects show that Old Key West has been steadily refreshing both its rooms and its shared spaces.

Conclusion

Neither update changes how guests can use these resorts in a major way, but both are worth knowing about before you arrive. BoardWalk Inn and Villas will see work continue into 2027, with the Luna Park Pool, play area, and Leaping Horse Libations closing from January 11 through April 2027. At Old Key West, Hospitality House maintenance will last through fall 2026. If you are staying at either resort, plan for some daytime construction and check posted signs for any changes to walking paths.
