Since March 2020, parking trams have been missing from both parks, following their suspension in all four Walt Disney World Parks due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The parks underwent a brief closure in mid-2020 and upon phased reopening in July, tram services were discontinued to maintain physical distancing.
Disney had initially cited health and safety concerns as the reason for the ongoing absence of trams, but distancing measures at attractions and other means of transportation were lifted in June 2021. The mask mandate for transport was also removed in April 2022, marking the return of entertainment and buffet meals as Disney gradually eased COVID-era safety protocols.
In December 2021, Disney Parks confirmed that tram services would resume at Magic Kingdom and mentioned that trams would be reinstated at other Walt Disney World theme parks throughout 2022. Tram services were restored at Magic Kingdom on December 19th, 2021, and at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on May 27th, 2022. However, information about the reintroduction of trams at EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios had been limited since the 2021 announcement, leaving guests with no choice but to walk from their cars to the park entrances.
Now, two years after their reintroduction at Magic Kingdom, the resumption of parking trams at EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios signifies the full return of this service across all four Disney parks for the first time since 2020.
