The newest news for Genie+ brings some changes for those who plan on Park Hopping during their trip. Genie+ will no longer be allowing guests to make Lightning Lane selections at the park they will be hopping to until Park Hopping begins at 2:00 PM.
In order for guests to be able to park hop, they must follow the following steps:
- Purchase Park Hopper tickets or have an Annual Pass.
- Make a reservation for their first park of the day.
- Scan into the first park.
- Park Hop to a new park after 2:00 PM, as long as the second park is not at capacity.
When Genie+ debuted, guests would only be able to choose from the next available return time for their Lightning Lane selections. However, there was an exception to that rule in regards to Park Hopping. If a guest was selecting a Lightning Lane selection for their second park of the day, the Genie+ system would provide guests the next return time after 2:00 PM. This is no longer the case.
This update came as a surprise to many guests, who now will be required to wait until 2:00 PM to book their return times in their second park of the day.
Disney may have made this change in an attempt to allow guests who are not Park Hopping more opportunity to book high demand attractions later in the day. It could also be that since park attendance is so high, they do not want people to make Lightning Lane selections and then not be able to enter the park due to it reaching capacity.
It is important for guests who are planning to use Genie+ while Park Hopping to be up to date on the newest rules. Stay tuned into the DVC Shop Blog for all of your Genie+ updates!
