If you are heading to Disneyland and dreading the walking have no fear. Disneyland Resort is bringing back parking trams this month! Parking trams will begin running again at the Disneyland Resort on February 23rd.
Parking trams will be operating between the Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals garages and all the way to the front gates of Disneyland Resort. These trams have been greatly missed by those who have difficulty walking long distances, especially considering the parking garages are two-thirds of a mile from the park entrance.
The trams went on a hiatus when Disneyland Resort closed down in March 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. When Disneyland reopened the trams remained nonoperational to maintain social distancing guidelines. However, the last few months Disneyland has been servicing the trams and hiring more staff in preparation for the parking trams long awaited return.
As was custom before the parking tram closure, trams will begin running before the park opens for the day, giving guests ample opportunity to attend rope drop if they wish. The trams will also be operating after the park closes to ensure guests can ride back to their parking garage after they close the park down.
In addition, Disney states that the parking trams will not require face coverings or social distancing. Guests with strollers will need to fold them down before being able to ride the parking trams.
Although walking is a given at any Disney park, the parking trams have routinely provided a reprieve for those who cannot walk long distances easily, or simply wish to save their energy for when they are in the park itself. Either way the parking tram return is an exciting development in for both Disneyland and California Adventure.
