This upcoming New Year is bringing some exciting new developments to the Disney parks.
Beginning January 1, the park hopper option will be available to guests. Soon visitors will be able to truly diversify their time at the parks.
They can admire the animals out in the morning at Animal Kingdom before going to eat around the world at EPCOT in the evening, or any combination of Disney magic they wish to see in their time at Walt Disney World.
Since Disney World’s reopening in mid July due to the pandemic, there has been a hold on park hopping, but now the option to see more in one day is available again, with a few modifications.
In order to maintain all guest and cast member health Disney has added a couple of limitations to the park hopper option. Although park hopping will be limited, guests will see that the park hopper option will still give their days at the parks more choices and availability.
Modifications
Guests will still be required to make a reservation for their first park, and that will need to be their first stop as well. However, with the park hopper option added to their ticket or annual pass, guests can leave their original park and head over to a completely new park beginning at 2 p.m. and remain there for the rest of the park’s open hours. The best part is guests will not need a second reservation to do so. Disney has already begun selling tickets with the park hopper option in anticipation of this new development.
Keep in mind that all parks will still have limited capacity, which was recently raised to 35%. Visitors who choose to park hop may not be able to get in right away due to these capacity limits, in order to maintain social distancing. However, if guests could not get a reservation to one park, they would still be able to try to visit later in the day with a better likelihood of getting inside.
There is one important note to keep in mind for the Star Wars fans. Only guests who have a Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be allowed to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This may change later on, along with other park reservation rules, but as of January, guests that park hop to Hollywood Studios will not be able to enter the virtual queue. Therefore if that attraction is a must have, visitors should make their first park reservation for Hollywood Studios and choose another park for later in the day.
Disney is also updating their My Disney Experience Mobile App as well to keep visitors updated on park hopper hours, as some parks may begin opening earlier. Park-to-park transportation is also making its way back to the Disney parks in 2021 to help those guests who are park hopping. Transportation will begin shortly before 2 p.m.
